Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: The Wrongs of Man Review: Though it seems impossible to write a better review than Bruce Miller's Refreshingly Ambitious review, there are things which must be said.Despite the faddish nature of evolutionary biology and the subsequent proliferation of books about it, this book is refreshingly different. As mentioned in other reviews, Robert McElvaine doesn't take such a hard edge concerning human behavior, even though he makes a strong defense of the concept of human nature--contra ultra-liberals who think that societies create people and not vice-versa; (he also exposes a few other ironies concerning cultural determinism and cultural conservatism.) So, in conclusion, if you want a book that 'explains' everything from Fight Club to Fellini with a few detours through feminism, then Eve's Seed is the book to get. I've never read a book as seeemingly fair as this one. And despite its length, it's very easy to read--McElvaine is a funny writer. {As to why I gave the book 4 stars instead of five....I feel that some people might not like his interpretation of the Garden of Eden story. I know I had problems with it. But at least it was thought-provoking and the conclusions were potentially sound.}
