Review: This is a great text from a world-class trauma center (Harborview in Seattle) with concise, readable chapters written and edited by surgeons that take care of patients with bad chest injuries full-time and day after day. There is a wealth of basic science and tricks-of-the-trade that make the care of these patients so interesting and rewarding. Every traumatologist, combat surgeon and pulmonary doc should have a copy on the shelf.

The chapter on analgesia modalities for patients with pulmonary contusion is especially useful and practical.
