Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wonderful book; wealth of ecological data & insight
Review: This is a terrific book with a lot of appeal not only to people interested in pines, but to a wide audience of ecologists, land managers, foresters and graduate students in ecology. There are 22 chapters by authors from 4 continents, with close to 3000 references. The book offers a wealth of insight into the effects of humans, fire, evolution and systematics of pines, reproduction and life histories, pines and invasive ecology and more. It may be too expensive for many readers, but get your library to buy a copy, at least. J. Gurevitch, Associate Professor of Ecology and Evolution, State Univ. of NY at Stony Brook.
