Summary: There are better books out there
Review: I do not recommend this book for those who are new in the field of ethics in health care. This book is very opinionated and barely covers the ethical principles involved in desicion making. The author does not show sensitivity to different points of view and will frequently make bold statements that he does not justify. The ethical framework in the begining of the book is necessary to support the rest of the book but is very poorly explained and inadequate. Important doctrines and priciples are missing and others are explained ambiguously. The decision making framework which he applies is poorly thought out and missing key elements that are quite common sense. He presents cases throughout the book but does not apply his ethical framework to these cases in an organized manner making his chapters rather discombabulated. If you would like a good foundation in health care ethics there are other books which may be more useful. If you do buy this book, read it with a critical eye and remember that most of the statements are the opinions of the author and do not belong to the subject matter.
