Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Insightful...
Review: If you are a fan of socilogical theory and wish to expand your knowledge of the labeling theory concept this book is a good place to start. These 42 case studies provide close examination into the "Careers" of Deviants, offering insights as to how society, through sanctions and stigmatization, molds and shapes each individual's projected path into deviance. the majority of the authors presented rely on Goffman's and Becker's work, but in doing so offer new and expanded theories as to why deviance occurs . A good read.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Irregular interest.
Review: Unfortunately I find a considerable gap between the "classic" contributors (Goffman, Becker, Lemert) and the more recent ones.
Some of the latter display even a moralist approach to their subject matter.
