Rating: Summary: Great guide for medical students starting clinical rotations Review: Great relatively pocket-sized guide for medical students who are beginning their clinical rotations. This book has guides on how to perform the physical exam and patient history, how to write up a patient note, as well as a review of pathophysiology of many common diseases students will see on their medicine rotations, and great appendices with lists of commonly used drugs and drug classes, normal lab values, clinical signs, and common drug-drug interactions. This book was originally written by other students, so it has the fundamentals of becoming a clinician in today's medical environment. I think this book will be absolutely indispensable when I start my 3rd year rotations. It has all of the essentials with many tables and figures to help guide the patient work-up experience. I like the examples of patient write ups and figures of radiography and ECGs. The only thing I would change about the book if I could would be to make the book dimensions more amenable to carrying around in a coat pocket. Otherwise, it's a great student resource.
