Summary: This book rocks
Review: Great book! If you are a collector of Apollo books, you must get this for your bookshelf. Very detailed diagrams, charts and graphs. The CD Rom is excellent too with 1400+ pictures from the mission. I am working on collecting the whole series!

Summary: A piece of history
Review: I must admit that I bought this for the CD-Rom at the back, and it was worth it.

I love NASA documentaries from the 1960's and this is no exception.

The historical documents are really interesting to read through and form a great reference.

If you have this book or are thinking of buying it, I strongly recommend the Friendship 7 (John Glenn) book for its CD Rom and video.

Summary: Apollo 11 best ever!
Review: Of all NASA Mission Reports; the one on APOLLO 11 is the best and most exciting! I'm sure you can figure out why! Next to the book: FIRST ON THE MOON; I'm using APOLLO 11'S ist volume and volume 2(nasa mission reports) to represent all the other mission reports! You cannot; for the money; find more information and hundreds of beautiful; priceless photos of each mission; each mission report is priceless in itsself! Robert Godwin and NASA has really done a tremendous job on these reports; and thank goodness they have finally came out! To me, a big APOLLO fan, this is the next best thing , than having each book filled with real Moon rocks, and the men who went there! P.S.: And the CD that comes with each book on each mission has hundreds of photos; both in black and white; on lunar surface, and in Lem as well, including orbiting the Moon, and showing beautiful pictures of Earth! I simply do not know how you; Mr. Godwin and NASA did it; but thanks so much for these mission reports! They are truly worth the money! Areal bargain for sure! I loved the Apollo 11 volumes 1 and 2 so much; that I purchased 4 copies of each; to put back for my son and relatives, to always remember 1st lunar landing by! I'm so looking to the future Apollo missions to come; and especially the x-15 mission reports as well this Fall! They just cant come fast enough: they're great! Thanks Mr. Godwin and NASA! many thanks indeed!

Summary: An Important Historical Document
Review: Once upon a time there was no Internet as we know it. The public got its information from the news media who in turn often got much of their information from press kits. This book and its companion volume are raw, unfiltered and uncommented reprints of the NASA press kits produced to provide background information to the media.

When you see old videotape of Walter Cronkite or Frank Reynolds reporting on the Apollo mission 11 as it happened, chances are an original copy of these press kits is just off camera.

The quality of the type and line drawings are crude by today's standards but that only adds to their charm and historical accuracy.

I bought both volumes as a present for a space-buff friend of mine and I'm sure he'll be thrilled. I read both cover to cover before wrapping them but I didn't want to break the seal on the CD-ROMs so I can't comment on them.

Summary: Key installment in this valuable series
Review: This is one of the key installments in this valuable series. Volume One contains the usual materials--the press kit, the premission report, and the postmission report--but also a transcript of the postmission press conference with the astronauts. And there are eight pages of color pictures inserted. The enclosed CD contains two NASA movies about the flight as well as numerous photographs.

I haven't gotten Volume Two yet, which makes it a little hard to comment. I always particularly like the crew debriefing, which presumably is in that volume. Still, this volume contains some significant information about the most significant event of my lifetime.
