Rating: Summary: This is not a book, it's a joke. Review: This book is full of lies, rumors, accusations, counter rumors. fake looking UFO photos, souces that can not be confirmed for their accuracy, and a charge that the US Goverment has hidden evidence of UFO's from the public for decades. There is no prove, this has nothing to do with science or serious investigation. It has more to do with unfounded beliefs and nonsense, and a cheap way to make a buck fast wihout getting a real job.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book! Review: A great effort. The historical format is ideal for those soberly concerned about the UFO phenomenon. There is some speculation within the pages but it's generally reasonably argued and kept in check by the author's objectivity. I am very much looking forward to the next volume. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: it's about friggin' time Review: for years official culture has too often "missed the point" about most things even vaguely mysterious -the mafia, the secret government, religion, history- so it is not suprising that the ufo situation has been laughed off and misunderstood also: And we must remember that the seemingly illogical ufo phenomena itself along with the simple-mindedness of the public at large has aided greatly in this state of affairs...sigh...I guess we're not ready, whatever THAT means.Ufo's and related phenomena are weighty and highly significant; like an iceberg that barely peeks its head above water. But unlike an iceberg we can accuse it of actively manipulating its presence in a quasi-intelligente fassion. I especially enjoyed this book's excursion into artificial intelligence and the technological singularity. What do the ufonauts desire of humanity? I can't say. But whatever it is they'll certainly get it. I can only assume this book is a small part of that process... Buy it. It's the most important book for sale at Amazon.[com]
Rating: Summary: Excellent book! Review: Having read the TOP Four books in the UFO/Alien/ Government Coverup Genre; My FAVORITE is 'Alien Rapture' by Brad Steiger (Great fiction-soon to be a movie) and Edgar Fouche; and 'Alien Agenda' by the best selling author of 'Crossfire' Jim Marrs (Best reference on UFOlogy); and 'Unconventional Flying Objects' (NASA UFO Investigator for 30 years) by the scientist Dr. Paul Hill, and the Day After Roswell by Colonel Corso. If you read this excellent book and the others, you will know that they are indeed true. Two well respected American Astronauts have come forward to proclaim they had seen evidence of the Roswell UFO crash and stated they know the cover-up is real. Was Corsos and Hills sudden demise a product of this conspiracy? Why did Fouche go underground after being interviewed on the Discovery Channel and the Learning Channel? Why didn't the 'Disclosure Project' explosive information receive any media attention? You be the judge.
Rating: Summary: Unparalleled scholarship -- fascinating! Review: Historian Richard Dolan's "UFOs and the National Security State" is an unsparing chronological narrative that charts the UFO enigma (and its disturbing relationship with the US military-industrial complex) from the beginning of the modern phenomenon to 1973. Dolan's book is as intelligent and sober as it is mind-boggling, written with a welcome sense of irony and rooted in documented fact. Dolan revealingly juxtaposes the UFO phenomenon with its Cold War context, shedding light on the military's early search for answers, NICAP's tireless efforts to bring the UFO issue to Congressional attention, the duplicitous tactics of Project Blue Book and the Condon Report, and much more. "UFOs and the National Security State" is a unparalleled work by an author not afraid to challenge "official history"--even if it means exposing an enigma that defies conventional explanation. I predict that Dolan's study will become a genuine classic; he's raised the bar for scholars of the UFO coverup, and offers a remarkably solid argument to the intellectually fashionable "debunking" establishment. This book redefines the 20th century landscape; I eagerly await the second installment in Dolan's peerless overview.
Rating: Summary: UFO's and the National Security State Review: I found Richard's book to be without doubt an absolute classic! For the 1st time a book that draws on the parallel's of the UFO phenomenon and the rise in intelligence/military department's activity's . Written in a responsible fact presentation type ,it nonetheless is still quite alarming . Richard also provide's generous note's & recommendation's to further explore - if you wish - in your quest for knowledge on this truly amazing & at times quite confusing phenomena . I recommend it highly , in my opinion it is in the top 5 book's of all time on this subject . GO OUT AND GET IT RIGHT NOW!
Rating: Summary: You might not want to, but you must read this book Review: If you are already interested in UFOs, you should read this book. If you are already well read on the subject of UFOs, you should read this book. If you are skeptical about UFOs you must read this book. If you believe in wild government conspiracy theories you will want to read this book. If you think the government only has our best interests at heart, then you really need to read this book. Not only is this possibly the best book ever written on UFOs, it is such an important book on UFOs and the military industrial complex, that every thinking person should read it as soon as possible. If you are reading the Bible, put it down, and start reading "UFOS and the National Security State". Mr. Dolan has clearly documented a pattern of covert efforts by U.S. intelligence agencies to conceal the great worldwide wave of modern UFO incidents beginning during World War II. This is an extremely well researched and well crafted work. It fully qualifies as non-fiction in every sense, being based largely on the most solid portion of the body of evidence for UFOs. A book this important does not come along very often. I sincerely wish that many more people would read this book so the citizens of earth would begin to understand the widening gap between official truth and conventional wisdom on one hand, and the real truth on the other hand. Please, read this book, for your own sake and for the sake of all your fellow earthlngs. Tom Bowden Oregon State Director, Mutual UFO Network
Rating: Summary: Yet another b.s.-laden UFO book! Review: No doubt, to the uneducated this book might seem like nirvana. But it isn't. Give Richard Dolan credit for historicalness, but give him the boot for his believer attitude. He believes in Roswell and not intelligently. He dredges up the same ol' crap and the same ol' "witnesses." He treats the Mantell case as if the truth meant nothing and fantasy is to be accepted instead. He mentions Mogul only once in the INDEX, tells you it's on page 450 yet only book titles are on that page! Of course, he mentions it at length during the Roswell b.s. Allright, so the U.S. government has lied about UFOs and continues to lie. So what? Despite all of the historical records that Dolan serves up no one still knows anything about UFOs. This book takes its place alongside all of the other books that are written about UFOs but nothing new is added and all that is accomplished is that we know just as much now about UFOs as we have since time immemorial. Who cares about history when it's the kind of history that doesn't add anything to our knowledge of UFOs. Anyone can find documents and put them into book form. The point is to write a book that helps solve the mystery of UFOs. This one doesn't do it.
Rating: Summary: Essential reading for UFO buffs Review: Richard Dolan has done researchers a great service by compiling so much compelling evidence into one volume. His research is meticulous and the hundreds of footnotes provide many leads for further study. I thorougly enjoyed the read and now keep the book handy since it's such a wonderful reference... I'm eagerly awaiting the follow-up book covering more recent events.
