Summary: Why didn't I read this sooner...
Review: Heinberg has written a strong piece honoring the earth and outlining the challenges ahead for men and women on this planet. He constructs a plausible explanation to the destruction that is taking place and calls social reflection and change. He wrote:

"Of course, no myth is entirely true, any more than is any scientific theory entirely true. But if it helps us see ourselves and our situation from a more inclusive viewpoint, then we may perhaps profit by holding it lightly for a time and seeing how it affects the way we see and be." (p. 208)

Heinberg deals with issues like food gathering, science, religion, progress, culture, money, and much more. For readers of authors like Derrick Jensen (A Language Older Than Words, The Culture of Make Believe) and Daniel Quinn (Ishmael, The Story of B, My Ishmael) this is a must read!
