Summary: Quite a payload of food for thought
Review: The intriguing and "user friendly" personality that brought you Hyperspace (Michio Kaku) returns with a heavyweight in revolutionary scientific information. This book will leave you dizzy with concrete facts as well as potential possibilities throughout different areas of biology, technology, and physics. Geniously organized, this book begins by summarizing the different areas of science and their cross-influences, then opens up a whole new world in each respective subject. From artificial intelligence to genetics and (of course) a touch of quantum physics, this book will bring the tingling excitement of a fantastical future realistically close. With insights on economic growth and influences on society, this book shows that world of science fiction luxury and awe is not so far off at all. A great way to broaden your perspectives in one handy book.

Summary: Thought Provoking
Review: This book is an easy read and probably begs more questions than it answers. Any one of Prof Kaku's "visions" of life embraced by 21st century technology are thought provoking and I am sure in time will evolve into major books in their own right. Prof Kaku writes about computers, quantum mechanics, DNA, future exploration, medical breakthroughs, longevity, etc. etc., in a manner that is understandable and, at times, breathtaking. I am sure that readers will either like or hate this book, depending upon whether they think the looking glass is either half full or half empty. I liked it and I am looking forward to the sequels.

Summary: Visions, a wonderful book
Review: Though in this book, Visions, not all of science is examined, which one would expect when predicting the future, in one volume. But to make up for this he examines all of his topics with scrutiny and fine detail.
He begins his novel with Isaac Newton peering out into the vast ocean of science, and wraps up this idea in a clever manner at the end of the book.
The book can be broken down into three parts. First, he begins with how robotic and computer technology will advance through the next 70 years, by then we will have reached AI, artificial intelligence, a very exciting idea(and scary!). He talks about Moores Law, which says that computer power will double every two years, yielding an exponential increase.
He then moves onto DNA. He spends many many pages explaning what DNA is, he explains how DNA sequencing is carried out ,and how many diseases are genetic. In this section, he says how we can be "choreographers of nature" by changing the genetis makeup of living matter, even humans. He does not finish the section without a chapter on DNA ethics, stem cells, cloning etc.
He ends up the book by writing about the many strange theories, and laws, of present-day Physics, like string theory, black holes, etc. This is the shortest of the sections, and he doesn't get into much detail, but nontheless is a good ending to a woderful book.
Throughout the book he mentions the level of society, there are three levels and he mentions another fourth at the end, we are a zero, which is dissapointing because we wont get to be a one for some time now, not in my liftime at least.
Visions is cleverly planned out, written under incredible scrutiny, which isn't boring, and ample with information; I look foreward to reading Hyperspace very soon.

Summary: A brilliant and thought-provoking celebration of knowledge
Review: Visions is a brilliant journey into the world of tomorrow. It is full of informative and thought-provoking questions.

Visions raises points regarding the human craving for knowledge and technology, and the irreducible chaos that we may encounter in the future because of our manipulation of the planet and our bodies.

His writing again comes about lively and envigorating. His thoughts and explanation of issues are balanced and allow the reader to dwell deep into complex matters without him or her requiring a doctorate in the sciences.

This is another wonderful and excellent book that our Dr. Kaku has developed. Bravo!
