Rating: Summary: A "must-read" book for all true pet lovers Review: Collaboratively written by David Congalton and Charlotte Alexander, When Your Pet Outlives You: Protecting Animal Companions After You Die is a solidly written and "user friendly" resource for pet owners wanting to ensure that their animal companions are taken care of in the event of the death of the pet owner -- especially since pets are legally classified as property under American law and as such cannot lawfully inherit money directly. Setting up a pet trusts and veterinary care contracts, and the wide variety of options to ensure one's pets are taken good care of, and more are all discussed in depth in a "must-read" book for all true pet lovers.

Then how on earth can we allow their future to be left up to others at a time they will be confused and grieving as well? When Your Pet Outlives You has opened my eyes to what must be done to prepare for my animals' well-being in the event something unexpected happens to my husband and me. This well-written, informative, and compassionate book should be read be every pet-owner. Thank you, dear David and Charlotte, for enlightening me and for bringing me peace of mind!

Rating: Summary: All Pet Owners Should Have This Book Review: We have two cats out of the twenty one rescued from Erma Jenine's cattery ,Venus and Sassafras as mentioned in the tragic tail in the book. Rating: Summary: Peace of Mind is Only a Quick Read Away Review: When Your Pet Oulives You is a great book packed with information every pet lover should have. I took the book's advice and met with an attorney to draw up a will to protect my cats should I die before they do, designated an executor to my estate and found potential homes for them should the awful happen. Now, I feel so much better and just don't think about the horrible possibility of my cats outliving me any more. Congalton and Alexander write with knowledge, compassion and skill. Everyone who has a pet should read this book.
Rating: Summary: A must read for all pet owners. Review: With their book "When Your Pet Outlives You: Protecting Animal Companions After You Die" David Congalton and Charlotte Alexander have delivered an important message of responsibility that all dedicated pet owners should take into serious consideration. Until my wife and I read this book we were basically unaware of the potentially disastrous ramifications of leaving our two dogs alone without the protection of a financial net. This book gave us the guidance and motivation to leave our two four-legged family members in good hands in the event of an untimely demise. Thanks again to David and Charlotte for bringing this issue into the light and delivering reasonable, solid plans of action.
