Summary: If you think vol 4 is bad try vols 123
Review: The author, a distinguished psychologist, has written a definitive compendium of his magnum opus.Unfortunately his ability to write is not equal to his incisive intellect, and the prose is inaccessible to many. To understand his important work consult the books of Donald Nathanson.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Keep in mind...
Review: This is one of the seminal works of the father of modern affect (emotion) research. It isn't easy reading but the ground he breaks is worth the struggle. In the context of the (anti-affect) academic world in which he was working, it is almost miraculous that he acheived what he did. Eckman's works are easier to read, read this after that.
