Summary: What To Do When You Are Diagnosed With An Illness
Review: After the diagnosis is when the race begins. The starter pistol has gone off and you must run the good race if you wish to have the best chance of winning your race against the illness. No one can run the race for you. You will have to run the race yourself. Treating and hopefully resolving an illness is not a set course but is, in fact, a matter of making choices. This book is about finding resources.

"After Any Diagnosis" explains how to:
1. Interpret confusing medical statistics
2. Find valuable internet sites
3. Find the most up-to-date books, articles and journals
4. Weigh the reliability and accuracy of medical information
5. Determine the value of second and third opinions
6. Research doctors, caregivers, hospitals and support groups

Many doctors declare that the most important thing a patient can do to improve his or her health is to be well-informed.

Summary: After Any Diagnosis
Review: This book is an incredible source of advice, how-tos, and strategys for sifting through the often overwhelming amount of information associated with a serious illness and the treatment decisions. It doesn't just point you in a specific direction and leave you dangling, it is a great guide and workbook to making your own informed decisions. Every doctor's office and hospital waiting room should have at least one copy available for the newly diagnosed patients.

Summary: Wonderful resource!
Review: This is truly a wonderful book for ANYONE who has personally been diagnosed with a serious illness or had a loved one diagnosed with a serious condition. The more knowledgable you are with regard to your illness to more proactive you can be about your treatment. I know of no medical condition where there is one "set" answer for everyone - but you might well get only one answer or one option from your particular doctor. The key to getting the best treatment is to be prepared and know your options. This book gives you practical information that you can use to learn more about your condition, avoid the quacks that promise "miracle" cures, and work with you doctor(s) to be certain you get the full range of options in order for YOU to make an informed decision about YOUR treatment. Great book.
