Summary: You've got to be kidding!
Review: Every state in the union has strict requirements before a chiropractor can deliver their first adjustment. Do you honestly believe you can learn from a book what normaly takes fours years of school.

Would you dream of learning neurosurgery at home?

I believe Dr. Holquist is looking for a quick buck. Very dangerous. No Stars.

Summary: Karl sells a video to go with this at his own web site...
Review: I have viewed both the "video" (see his web site) and read the book (they are meant to be used together) and employed the teachings for the last 4 years of this posting. I have applied the techniques many times to friends and they have thanked me for the help. I have shared the knowledge and then they adjust me. I do tell them "I am not a physician" but the adjustments are so SIMPLE. We adjust "ourselves" more often than you image. This is not brain surgery. It is safe and very comforting. Karl Holinquist (the author) stipulates "in the very beginning" that it is for "maintenance" of good health "not for serious medical treament". He advises one to always seek a professional Chiropractor for any injury related spinal treatment. In the video (re: sold at http://www.home-chiropractic.com/ ) he, his wife and sons all apply the simple techniques to each other. The instructions are worth their weight in gold. I thank Karl for this effort. Robert H Weinstein (reposted 1/2/2005)

Summary: Dangerous Stupidity Made EZ
Review: Sure, a brief book and video can teach you to twist someone's neck pretty well. But only someone with the least possible respect for the principles of chiropractic would publish such a book. If you injure neck or back, there are plenty of "home remedies" that you can try to help yourself out before seeing either a chiropractor or MD, but spinal adjustments should NOT be one of them! It may look simple on the surface, but there is quite a bit of skill in determining the correct vertabrae to adjust, the proper angle and line of force, as well as the amount of force to be used. These skills cannot be taught from a book...they must be learned from experience. Chiropractic students spend hundreds of hours supervised by professionals before ever giving their first adjustment and even then they are supervised in clinic for hundreds of hours more.

Do yourself a favor. Don't risk serious injury just because some jerk wrote a book. ANYONE can write a book! That doesn't make what they say smart or safe.

Summary: It can be dangerous
Review: Take caution with this book. My brother-in-law, who moved to a rural part of Utah, purchased this book to continue chiropractic care on his wife as there was no chiro within 100 miles. He adjusted my sister and ruptured an artery in her neck causing a stroke. We later found out this happens to chiropractors about once for every 5 million adjustments; however, this happened to my sister after about a dozen "adjustments." Please be very, VERY careful if you use this book.

Summary: Fantastic experience
Review: This book is a fantastic intro to chiropractic principles. I have adjusted myself and my family with understanding and success. Dr. Holmquests ability to convey chiropractic technique is impressive and inspiring. This book has shaken the chiro establishment to its core. Don't let others instill fear in your heart. This book is a leap of boldness and courage unmatched in the chiropractic world. The truth will set you free!! Read this book and impress yourself. You can do it with ease. Video available as well to compliment the book which I would recommend highly.

Summary: It's about time this knowledge is available to the public!!!
Review: This is an excellent book. As the author notes a number of people try to adjust their spine by "popping" their back at home. They really don't know what they are doing, just that it feels good. Why not show them the correct way to do this. After all it's not rocket science. I have had the book and video for several months and have never felt better. Not only am I able to stand and walk longer, I also sleep more soundly. My wife's back-aches are a thing of the past. It has improved our health and well being immensely.
The two negative reviews below from Chiropractors just goes to show you that the secret is out. I would bet that neither of them have read the book, and are merely threatened by the knowledge that most people can take care of a majority of their chiropractic needs at home.
