Summary: Reiki Clients Will Benefit from this Book
Review: I am not a practitioner of Reiki but a client. As a client, I know that no book can ethically claim to be a "how to" book. Formal training is required. But if you are interested in receiving Reiki treatments, this book will help you feel even more relaxed about the process. Plus it gives wonderful background information for those who wish to pursue training in this area. I've glanced at several Reiki books and this is one of the best. So read, enjoy, and open up to the wonderful possibilities of Reiki!

Summary: From this book, my path to becoming a Reiki Master Started.
Review: Paula Horan's book is written in such a manner it not only keeps your interest but also explains the origin of Reiki, what Reiki is and many ways one can use it. I use Paula's book as one of my reference books during lectures and class work.

Summary: A great place to start your journey in the field of Reiki
Review: This book is much better than "The Complete Reiki Handbook" Walter Lubeck, and "Abundance Through Reiki" by Paula Horan. However; Ms, Horan continues to perpetuate two myths about Reiki. 1. The 21 day cleansing process. 2. Dr. Mikao Usui a Christian. The Cleansing process is different for everyone. My cleansing process lasted for two days, but I had 25 years of energy work before receiving my attunements. Dr. Mikao Usui (The man that discovered Reiki in the early 1800s) was a buddhist. Ms. Horan mentioned two associations of Reiki Masters. "Reiki Alliance", and "AIRA (American International Reiki Association". I can add two more associations to this list. "Reiki Touch", and "GRMA (Global Reiki Masters Association". I am a member of the GRMA. Ms. Horan added one nice touch to this book. Namely the Kirlian protography on page 20 demonstrating the difference in the Reiki practitioners energy field before and during a Reiki treatment. This book lacks the symbols used in Reiki. This book lacks instructions for passing attunements. If you have questions or comments about Reiki contact me by E-Mail.

Summary: Good Guide To Reiki & Healing Philosophy
Review: This book is only about 150 pages, yet it manages to introduce the reader to many valuable areas of information and philosophy about Reiki healing. Usui's 5 principles are examined, as is the attunement process and the science of subtle energies. Complements to Reiki, such as color, sound, crystals, conscious breathing, acupressure, massage, and naturopathy are discussed. The author gives a balanced, realistic idea about what Reiki is and what it can do. There are useful body charts and diagrams, and recommendations for how to practice Reiki according to legalities of your area. My only cautions about this book are that it repeats the mythologized history of Usui's uncovering of Reiki, and that it implies there are no significant hazards of Reiki healing work, and does not guide the practitioner in remaining centered and consciously connected to the Reiki Source as a means of psychic protection. It is presumed that this just happens automatically, which is usually but not always the case. Other than that, I found this book to be a very enlightened approach to educating readers about Reiki. For a compact, affordable guide to Reiki this book is a great investment.

Summary: A great guide for Reiki
Review: This book is very good for those people who want to know what is Reiki and its origins. Be aware though, that this book doesn't show how to apply a Reiki treatment since you have to receive the healing ability from Reiki Masters. Nevertheless, the information it carries is invaluable.
