Rating: Summary: Keep Your Previous Editions! Review: After purchasing this book for the past several years, I must voice distress with the 2004 edition. Too often, the author shortened valuable drug information "to make room for more widely used medicines." As a result, the 2004 guide shortchanged its original intentions. Why not enlarge the book so that it includes EVERYTHING.

Rating: Summary: Essential Guide to Prescription Drugs 2004 by Rybacki Review: This book would be tops if it included ALL of the major drugs. Some important drugs are omitted. For those drugs included, the author provided a complete synopsis to include: - indications and proper dosages - contra-indications - side-effects - implications in combination with herbal preparations - contraindications in combination with alcohol, smoking or certain types of foods i.e. be careful of taking a powerful drug in combination with a very spicy food, heavy cream, heavily spiced barbecue sauce or high proof alcohol - precautions - damage to vital organs This work would be more valuable, if a more representative sampling of drugs had been listed. What happens, if you are about to purchase a drug and it's not listed in this work? Nonetheless, the book has significant value for the drugs listed. In addition, there is an exhaustive medical glossary which explains major terms in simple English. I would recommend that the author consider expanding the volume in future editions. Despite the criticisms noted, the book is still a significant value for the price charged.
