Summary: Beautiful book with a powerful message
Review: An absolutely beautiful book with a powerful message. This book is for everyone, because each of us will likely become a caregiver at some time in our lives--either we are right now, or we will be. Carmen Leal has opened up her own life of caregiving to us, and gives us encouragement, hope, and a gentle reminder that the Shepherd knows every heartache we face in caring for those we love. Beautifully written, this tender book will minister to you and to everyone you know.

Summary: Caregivers learn they aren't alone
Review: Caregiving is a very lonely job. Carmen does a wonderful job of making the reader realize they are in the company of many dedicated caregivers who "know where you are" and the solitude of this situation. I loved the comfort and camraderie I felt as I read this book. Caring for my brother and my father who both had cancer at the same time was a load. Carmen helped carry it with me.

Summary: Connecting with The Comforter
Review: Carmen Leal's heart and motivation for writing "The Twenty-Third Psalm for Caregivers" is undoubtedly 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 personified: "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." Out of her own experience she offers nothing less than a balm for the soul--not just for caregivers but for anyone who is enduring a long and difficult trial of any type. This absolutely beautiful book in image, design and content connects the reader with The Comforter through personal anthologies, art, hymns and Scriptures. The perfect book to give to show you care.

Summary: Hope and encouragement for caregivers.
Review: I am blessed that my personal caregiving story is shared in this wonderful book by Carmen Leal. The Twenty-Third Psalm for Caregivers has been well received by my family. In fact, just this morning my grandma called crying. They were tears of joy because of my grandfather's touching story which was included in Ms. Leal's book. My grandmother loved it and is ordering more copies for her neighbors and friends.

If you have anyone in your life who is a caregiver, I highly recommend this book. I'm so glad that I was able to take part, sharing about my caregiving experiences with my grandfather during his last months.

I pray that many people will be blessed by Ms. Leal's words of encouragement and hope in Jesus.

Summary: Hope for Caregivers
Review: I loved the Twenty-Third Psalm for Caregivers. Such heartwarming stories of hope and love despite huge, almost insurmountable troubles. Anyone who must care for a loved one will gain inspiration and courage from reading your book - it's a great gift for those who know folks in that situation.

The only thing I'd change is the type style - it needs to be larger so it's easier to read.

Summary: Caregivers Resource
Review: One of the most difficult journeys a person can take in life is that of a caregiver. In her book, The Twenty-third Psalm for Caregivers, Carmen Leal speaks of this role from experience after caring for her first husband, David, who suffered from a terminal neurological disease. Through Scripture, inspirational quotations, and stories of people who have been there, Carmen offers comfort and hope in this beautiful gift book. One little boy sums it up by saying, "The Lord is my shepherd...and that's all I need to know!"

Summary: A must read for everyone who cares
Review: This book is written for caregivers of those who care for people who are either terminally or chronically ill. It's a perfect gift for those readers, but also a great read for professional caregivers in the caregivign and medical profession.

What I found when I read this book was that it ministered to me too. Even though I am not a caregiver, the stories, quotes, scriptures, and hymns spoke to my soul and helped me to remember that the Shepherd has always and will always be there for me.

The author's ability to tell a story that leads readers to the Shepherd is wonderful. I plan on having a number of these books on hand because with an aging population it's just a matter of when I will meet a caregiver, not if. Excellent book!

Summary: Support and encouragement for caregivers
Review: What better place for caregivers to find support and encouragement than in the Shepherd of "rest, peace, hope, patience, courage, friends, protection, blessings and joy who cares, provides, directs, comforts, heals and loves" (from the chapter titles). The gift-book format, lovely illustrations, poignant stories and well-chosen quotes make this a book caregivers will treasure.
