Rating: Summary: I recommend this book to both old and new horse owners. Review: This book is well organized and a fast read. I have owned horses for 32 years and wish I had found it long ago. The problem horses Mark has helped became a problem because of ignorant handling. The story form adds to the fast read. The methods used and the respect for the animals are the secrets to success.
Rating: Summary: Written with great emotion, detail, and empathy. Review: This book was an absolute delight to read. I could hardly put it down. The stories are wonderful and written with a depth of emotion. I have also read A Good Horse is Never a Bad Color which is just as wonderful. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys horses.
Rating: Summary: What an insightful delight! Review: This book was such a refreshing change from most "horse training" books I have read, and a must for anyone that has a relationship with any horse. The use of real life stories to convey horsemanship principles is a unique approach, and incredibly thought provoking. The author's humble nature was such a nice change from so many of today's "horsemen with an attitude". This book was so good, that right after I finished reading the last page, I immediately went to page 1 and began reading it again! A wealth of information is between these pages! I would love to meet the author, and have the opportunity to watch him work with his equine friends. Mark Rashid's other book, "A Good Horse is Never a Bad Color" is just as good!!!

Rating: Summary: Helpful training info and good stories Review: This is an excellent book which addresses several common horse problems, what causes them, and how to cure them - but does so in a story format. Rather than present a "how-to" manual the author tells the stories of various horses he's worked with, what he did, why, and what worked and didn't. The stories are so well told I think even non horse owners who like horses would enjoy them. The training techniques are all about communication rather than domination. I highly recommend it.

Rating: Summary: One of the best horsemanship books ever written! Review: This is the best of Mark's three books. It has wonderful narration, funny and enthralling stories, and solid, practical content. My perspective on horses has been changed forever. This book is the first book anyone should read after gaining an interest in horsemanship.
Rating: Summary: Readable, reasonable, in tune with horses Review: This is the first book I have read by the recent crop of "horse trainers" in which the author does NOT claim to be the inventer of his techniques OR infallible! Mark's style is easy, flows nicely, and is very readable--it's almost like he's sitting on the couch in your living room talking with you about working with problem horses. He stresses approaching problems from the horse's viewpoint, and in the process of doing so makes the trainer reassess his own techniques and approaches to horses. Excellent book, well worth the price and the time to read.
Rating: Summary: The best Review: This is truly a great book. It gives tips which one really can understand and it reads brilliantly. It makes one defintely think about horses and the relationships we have with them and they with us.This is the best book I've ever read about horses. Lots of savey :-) Ries
Rating: Summary: Slyly teaches while entertaining! Review: This terrific book is a great read just on the narrative level, recounting stories of a boy learning from his wise master. You'll learn a lot about working with horses from reading this (it's fascinating, and really changes one's point of view), but you don't have to be a horse person to really enjoy it. (Tip: the general principles work as well for working with people as with horses!) His other book, A Good Horse Is Never A Bad Color, is essentially similar, and well worth reading.
