Summary: A "Keeper" for sure!
Review: "How do you suppose the horse feels about all of this?" Now there's a question we should ask ourselves everytime we visit with our horses under any circumstances! Both of Mr. Rashid's books found a real soft spot in my heart.....they helped reinforce in my mind that I want to live my life owing as few apologies as possible to the horses that I meet. His books are by far two of the most valuable resources in my life.....and I would venture to bet that they are the most valuable in my horse's life!

Summary: Considering the Horse: Tales of Problems Solved and Lessons
Review: A delightful and educational read. After reading Lyons on Horses and several others, listening to advice from "old hands", this book not only adds to that information, it entertains by the author setting the stage for the experience, bringing forth emotions--from frustration to satisfaction in recognizing a problem, resolving it, or, regretfully, honestly and sadly stating that nothing can be done. Although not a step-by-step listed-item how-to manual, it is a step-by-step situational experience which has the same educational result--only in a more personal manner. I actually winced, nodded and laughed as I identified myself in Rashid's narrative. Highly recommend this book to add another dimension to your knowledge bank. If nothing else, only to laugh at yourself.

Review: A narrative hard to put down. The style is flowing and effective. One of my favourites.

Summary: Should be required reading in school curriculums.
Review: An absolutely eye-opening and amazing book of truly relating to horses. This book imparts solid sense, and should be the first purchase, before one buys and/or works with horses.

Summary: JAM PACKED WITH GOOD ADVICE!
Review: As if his "page-turning" prose weren't enough to make this book worthwhile, Mark Rashid's ability to convince the reader of the point of view of the horse is simply remarkable. My husband & I have used Rashid's approach on various of our rescue horses & have had great success in teaching them to stand quietly for the farrier and be caught in the pasture and simple ground manners. The book is entertaining, insightful, and rewarding when you put his ideas into practice. After my husband & I read it, we immediately bought his next 3 books. Well worth the money and your reading time!

Summary: Up amongst the classic horse books
Review: As others have already said, I too could not put this book down. I appreciate the humbleness and honesty Mark shows in his writing. Thanks Mark, I hope you will write more books.

Summary: Practical Good Advice
Review: At first I wasn't so sure about a book that instructs in "story" form however, Mark Rashid does a nice job and the reading is enjoyable. What I like about this book is that he actually gives you examples of real life situations and what worked for him in those instances. I have all of his books. This one is my favorite and has a lot of "problem" horse potential cures. As usual, the problems all came from the owners but that is nothing new in the horse world! Good book, buy it.
