Rating: Summary: The greatest Book ever written in human history Review: When THE URANTIA BOOK was presented to me i was already a seeker of truth. The first time I held it gave me that unmistakable feeling beforehand when you recognize that you were presented with something that you wished but you thought will never find;and after devouring it for eight months my soul rested in joyful bliss, my thirst quenched in the desert called Earth.
Rating: Summary: Pretty much right on Review: Oops they missed the answer! 42 or 4.2 or .42? Math is tuff is it not
Rating: Summary: DANGEROUS, INSIDIOUS Review: This book seems fairly underground, i.e., actively plied in its own circles, but not mainstream like other beliefs. I think this is by design. The official Urantia site allows the search of text via keyword. Try "race" and see what happens, like "superior" and "inferior."This is scary stuff, makes "Mein Kampf" look like a Sunday paper circular. Sadler was either a quack or a whacko, or both. In any case, WAKE UP. More people need to be awakened to the insidious nature of this vile tome ... otherwise its idiotic "scientific facts" and "revelations" will ruin countless children ... but then again, what value is a child when the supposed "Thought Adjuster" doesn't show up till age 5? What kind of parenting is that? PEOPLE, THIS IS SICK.
Rating: Summary: Hope of a better life Review: A Book of Hope : Love of adventure, curiosity, and dread of monotony--these traits inherent in evolving human nature--were not put there just to aggravate and annoy you during your short sojourn on Earth, but rather to suggest to you that death is only the beginning of an endless career of adventure, an everlasting life of anticipation, an eternal voyage of discovery. On Urantia, our planet, you pass through a short and intense test during your initial life of material existence. After your death in the flesh, you traverse the phases of ascension. You pass through the true spirit stages of progression and intellectual, spiritual, and experiential attainment. And there is a definite task to be achieved during each of these stages. Continuing astonishment, unending wonder, is the experience of those who traverse these stages. Curiosity--the spirit of investigation, the urge of discovery, the drive of exploration--is a part of the inborn and divine endowment of evolutionary space creatures. These natural impulses were not given you merely to be frustrated and repressed. True, these ambitious urges must frequently be restrained during your short life on Earth, disappointment must be often experienced, but they are to be fully realized and gloriously gratified during the long ages to come. Death in the flesh should be an occasion to witness the ascension of a loved one. What a contrast to those earlier ages when mortals had to commit their dead to the embrace of the terrestrial elements! The scenes of weeping and wailing characteristic of earlier epochs of human evolution are now replaced by hope, serenity and enthusiasm as these God-knowing mortals bid their loved ones a transient farewell as they are removed from their material associations. Funerals are occasions of hope for a better life. The souls of these progressing mortals are filled with faith and assurance. The spirit permeating those gathered around the loved one resembles that of the joyful friends and relatives who might assemble at a graduating exercise for one of their group, or who might come together to witness the conferring of some great honor upon one of their number. And it would be decidedly helpful if less advanced mortals of a disordered and backward world like Urantia could only learn to view natural death with something of this same cheerfulness and lightheartedness.

Rating: Summary: An Incredible Book Review: I've always had a hard time understanding the Bible, whether it be King James, RSV,NRVS, and now I found for my husband and and I, we both have a copy and are enjoying every single of page. I am reading it daily, as is my husband. It is a MUST for interesting theories about Christ. For those who are staunch born again Christians, you probably wouldn't care for it. For me, and by a very strange coincidence, it came into our lives. We'e anxious to get through it the first time so we can start all over. I truly believe it's one of the incredible books I've ever read.
Rating: Summary: a considered opinion for open minds Review: I am on my second reading of this book. For anyone searching for answers or clues I would recommend this book. To say that it gives you the answers abrubtly i would say no. But for the mind that is searching it will provide the appropriate avenues to contemplate. I consider myself a scientific person but not an extremist. And this book cannot be taken to the extreme. It can open ones mind to marvelous ideas. But if your looking for based facts then know it will not provide them. It will give you things most people could or choose not to conceive. And for this i am grateful. Many things in this book differ from some of my beliefs. But a thinking individual will not discard the information for who is to say that ones opinion at that moment is truth. UB offers statements and is very blunt in a take it or leave it format. And only those with open minds and hearts will receive benefit from its teachings. Is there truth to humans opinions, which are based from a staggering amount of variables? Perhaps there can only be humility and peace. And given the proper thought tools you will achieve this. The Urantia book will have what your looking for if your path is open and pure. My gratitude to the foundation for its efforts to keep peace of mind alive
Rating: Summary: A Book of Love and Hope Review: The Urantia Book is a book of love. The only reality that could ever unite all peoples, all races, all nations, and all religions of our planet is the brotherhood of men founded on the fatherhood of God. God the Father divinely loves his children, all of them. God gives a fragment of his spirit self to dwell in the heart of man. Spiritually, all men are equal. The kingdom of heaven is free from castes, classes, social levels, and economic groups. We are all brethren. But the moment we lose sight of the spirit sovereignty of God the Father, some one religion will begin to assert its superiority over other religions; and then, instead of peace on earth and good will among men, there will start dissensions, recriminations, even religious wars, at least wars among religionists. The religions of Urantia, our planet, are good to the extent that they bring man to God. It is a fallacy for any group of religionists to conceive of their creed as The Truth; such attitudes bespeak more of theological arrogance than of certainty of faith. Religionists would do better to borrow the best in their neighbors' living spiritual faith rather than to denounce the worst in their lingering superstitions and outworn rituals. Knowing man as a brother entails the adjustment of the self to other selves, and that involves the social or group aspect of religious life. Religion is first an inner or personal adjustment, and then it becomes a matter of social service or group adjustment. True religion is to know God as your Father and man as your brother. The religions of authority require of men uniformity in belief, but this is impossible of realization in the present state of the world. The religion of the spirit requires only unity of experience--uniformity of destiny--making full allowance for diversity of belief. The religion of the spirit requires only uniformity of insight, not uniformity of viewpoint and outlook.
Rating: Summary: Oh great. Heaven is just the ultimate, organized bureaucracy Review: Used to love this book, even hauled it all over Europe in my back pack. Now my copy resides at the bottom of a canal in Amsterdam where I purposely tossed it. The book reflects the time it was written, in the middle of this century when optimism that science and government could solve all human problems reached its peak. Thus the book purports to describe the governmental structure of the entire universe, and as it does so it reflects a Babel of painstakingly described hierarchical organization, rendered in dull but clear prose, much like a government or technical manual. Out of all the glowing and excited reviews about this book from readers, I notice none of them arguing for why they think the book's contents are *actually true*. There is nothing to validate any of its contents, and its chief argument for believability is to wonder, How could anyone possibly imagine such 2000 page detail? But Tolkien did a much better job in the universe he created as MiddleEarth. Do all its fans not care whether it's true or not? Is it just valuable because it *could* be true and sets the imagination reeling as it tells us all sorts of stuff about angels and archangels etc. we would like to know? Two main things for which I disbelieve it is a revelation of truth: 1) the Jesus we know from historical documents would not be interested in teaching such minute detail about angelic government. "His face was set like flint for Jerusalem" and he taught his followers to walk the same path of self-sacrifice and unconditional love as opposed to the acquiring of info like "the scribes and Pharisees". Nothing in the Urantia book could add anything to the gospels to help us live more like Jesus. 2) One of the beauties of Jesus' divine revelation is its simplicity. One does not need a Ph.D or even literacy to enjoy it and be reborn. This book does not come from the same spirit. Is that because it is for a spiritual elite? If so, again, that is not of Jesus' spirit. I used to be excited over the book because it made supernatural things seem so real. But now I have learned that only the Holy Spirit and one's own faith is necessary to make God's revelation real to us. In the gospel of Luke, Jesus says, through the figure of Abraham, "If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone were to rise from the dead." Nor will they be convinced --of anything truthful--by reading the Urantia Book.
Rating: Summary: The Greatest Revelation since the teachings of Jesus/Michael Review: I have been reading the U book since 1974, over and over again. I also have the tapes and am listening to them all the time. I am a member of the Throggs Neck Urantia Book Fellowship. This book is not for the weak of heart, for if you were to read it from beginning to end, it would forever change you as it did me. Once you have read, "THE BOOK", you just have to go out and do something. One thing, you cannot remain idle in life. This is what the book did to me I am forever a soldier of the circles, and am a much better person because of it. So do not be afraid to read the truth, for the, "truth shall set you free". Thank you Father for the Son.
