Rating: Summary: A Sign of Things to Come Review: It is needless for me to repeat the testimony of others here. This book has forever altered the path of my life and of those around me. It has planted roots so deep and vibrant in the hearts and minds of people all over and its effect will only grow in time.
There is no need to fear this book or see it as a dangerous religous movement. The book itself warns against many kinds of dogmatic fanaticisms, esoteric religious cults, or judgemental collections of individuals. There are entire sections devoted to certain dangers of religions. Simply put, there is no church to attend, no priest to stand between you and God, no requirements other than the one you hold in your deepest core to be true. Love one another as you love yourself. This is God's will.
Note to Christians: This book advocates Jesus Christ as the son of God. There is more wisdom out there to seek besides The Bible. Do not ever stop seeking the truth. Truth can never be crystallized, it is ever changing. Look towards this book and further yourself on the unending road to God.
Rating: Summary: Valid science is only one of it's truths Review: What about the sciences section in the Urantia Book? Not much mention of it here among the reviewers. I find so much agreement in this area it boggles my mind, yet some reviewers say this book does not support science.
For instance, the 48 chromosomes or genes science does not agree with in the nucleus of the cell. Or is it because they fail to mention that there are 46 floating about in the nucleus, but there are two more `receptor sites' that are also stranded DNA on two sites of the walls of the cell as well?
Or our solar system that is supposed to be composed of the 11 planets? So now today we might have 11 which include the likes of Sedna and Quaoar?
Or the table of the elements in physics and chemistry? The book says there is a `segregation' between periods of elements that are based on the number seven. But there are if you study the table of elements in a subshell version, and you then might find these elements amount to about 35% of all the elements.
Or that the universe is not BigBang but is more like steady state? But recent studies into the area of light correlation implies very strongly the red shift is just correlation of universe energy in it's many forms, and results in the cosmic background radiation as well as a red shift of light as it traverses deep space.
Much on the Earth's beginnings and development is given in far more detail than you might get in a very advanced book on geology. Just try to prove this book is wrong in this area.
When you read this book, you really need to pay attention to exact meanings in every sentence, otherwise you may get a little lost. Is this why some people think this book is a joke? Just check your knowledge of facts about reality when you read this book. It may have been delivered in the thirties, but it's content is so up to date scientifically it tends to far outweigh new age.
Most people might not be that concerned about the general truths in science, but spend more time pursuing the more metaphysical, religious, and philosophical aspects of reality. Some of them will not be disappointed in this book if they have not read it yet.
Rating: Summary: To Roger Fuller...The Whole Truth! Review: I have always questioned what I was told as a youngster. I had merged in my own convoluded way the science and religion I was told. The Urantia Book does this with clarity that no man could do. To Roger Fuller...there are 46 chromosomes plus 2 other chromatin units contaning DNA that are thought to regulate the timing of development of the other 46 chromosomes. Therefore there are 48 units of building patterns we are developed from. The Urantia Books is correct in everything you and I have read.
ENJOY!!!
