Rating: Summary: This book is Awesome!!!! Review: are you ready to explore the possibilities? Maybe you should think about this before today is over with. How many times have you done the thing which you know you want to. When I was 12 I thought about it, but changed my mind later. If you are ready to explore the possibilities, than you should think about it more. When the time is right you will know. There's a saying called sha-bang which is better than you ought to know it is. A-men
Rating: Summary: Oustanding Review: This is a clearly presented, non-sensational book. It is arguably the only work on the pyramids that approaches the subject without the preconception of mummies and tombs. Clear, documented facts are presented. When coupled with a non-secular view of the ancient world as presented in works by Drs. Henry Morris and John C. Whitcomb, it becomes more comprehensible that ancient man was far more advanced and had the time, resources and knowledge to harness physics for practical purposes. This reviewer does not take the bait hook, line and sinker -- Dunn may be incorrect; but the theory of the Great Pyramid as a harmonic generator is compelling to say the least.
Rating: Summary: A great theory, however..... Review: I have read many books and articles about the pyramids of Egypt from both sides of the fence since 1995. To say that I have never bought into the orthodox 'facts' is an understatement. His ideas from an engineering point of view is original and does make sense. However, the book lacks conclusions in some areas. If you do not have a bit of understanding about engineering, beware, you will get lost and quickly bored. It is my belief that Chris Dunn, Graham Hancock, Robert Bauval, et al have all contributed in solving the mystery of the pyramids; if they would only come together on common ground and stop proclaiming that each has solved the mystery then orthodoxy would take notice. I am not a firm believer in coincidences, you can convince me once and maybe twice, however, there are too many when it comes to these magnificent structures to say that they were nothing more than tombs. I find it quite interesting that Egyptologists readily accept anything that's discovered when it supports the current dogma. When an artifact or inscription is found that contradicts the current belief, it is quickly dismissed (i.e The Inventory Stela). I could go on and on, but I only have 1,000 words so I will leave it at that. I give this book 4 stars.
Rating: Summary: stone mason's perspective Review: Christopher Dunn supports his own credibility by attempting to present only measurable evidence of advanced technology in ancient Egypt. His use of expert stone cutters' opinions was very helpful to me, as I am myself a stone mason and stone cutter, in explaining the still unequalled precision with which HUGE stones were cut and set. I think he shies away from the spiritual or occultic speculations which many authors on the subject like to focus on. Let's remember also that mainstream Egyptologists like to call their occult speculations of burial chambers and souls of kings being beamed to the stars historical fact. Part of me wanted the author to philosophise and speculate more than he did because his opinions fascinated me, but I respected more his analysis because he avoided spiritual subjects and built upon theories for practical purposes and tools. Copper chisels or even diamond ones are impractical and impossible to use to create the specific structures and boxes discussed by Dunn. We will discover more about ancient technologies as we become more advanced ourselves technologically and become able to comprehend what we are looking at. I agree with Dunn that we haven't come close to even catching up with a civilization that was building much farther away than 4 or 5 thousand years ago. An fascinating book.
Rating: Summary: Truly Fascinating And Thought Provoking Review: This book proves beyond a reasonable doubt that the great pyramid at Giza was created by people who were much more advanced than we are now not only from a technology point of view but spiritually. Traditionally held theories about the pyramids being tombs for pharoahs that were built by manual labor using primitive tools are completely disproved (anyone who thinks something like this could be built by people who hadn't discovered the wheel yet should be committed to a mental institution). As you read this book the terms "Queen's Chamber" and "King's Chamber" start to create confusion because according to Dunn these were not burial chambers at all. The pyramid builders were mysterious to the point of being almost frightening as far as what they were able to do. The reason we don't find additional archeological evidence of the ancient Egyptians' technology or an advanced society may be because they were not like us. If Dunn's theory is correct which I believe it is the ancient Egyptians had an understanding of the universe which is far beyond ours at this time. They may have had the ability to travel not only through space but through time as well or to other dimensions of reality. Although there is evidence that secret government agencies today do have knowledge of some of these advanced technologies such as time travel. A few reviewers have criticized the references to the Edgar Cayce readings but the author correctly realizes that a discussion of this subject should include theories about the possible origins of the pyramid builders and the society in which this pyramid was built. Cayce indicated that the ancient Egyptians were survivors of Atlantis which sank into the ocean as a result of misuse of technologies that were similar to the power ray described by Dunn's theory and also involvement in occult activities. Maybe one reason the technology of the ancient Egyptians disappeared is because the human race was entering a period of evolution which couldn't handle this type of power. Imagine what Hitler could have done with an anti gravity machine. The Cayce theory is that the human race actually started to de-volve after Atlantis sank. After the ancient Egyptians it appears that humanity became more and more entrenched in earthly problems such as war, slavery, disease, etc. So maybe the great pyramid stands as a monument to humanity's lost glory but we may yet power it back on sometime soon. Christopher Dunn should be commissioned to repair and resurrect the great pyramid. Who knows, maybe he was one of the people who built it.
Rating: Summary: And the moon is made of cheese! Review: It's amazing how the abuse of a title, for credibility, and a lot of techno-speak can make people believe this is scientifically valid. Keep an open mind, but don't let your brains fall out!
Rating: Summary: this author desparately needs a ghostwriter Review: The author of this book is an engineer not a writer and it shows. The author has a theory on the pyramids but he keeps on dancing around it going over old territory dropping hints until I at least gave up and quit. Mr. Dunn may have something interesting to say if he would ever say it! If he writes another book he should hire a ghost writer. I was very disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Not serious Review: As much as it is very appealing to believe that the Pyramids (who astound us, seeing that they're the only of the worlds 7 wonders remaining) were created for a higher purpose, it isn't the case. Many people speak of powerplants, how the pyramids are aligned to the stars, how the egyptians couldn't have built them, etc.But the truth to any serious scientist is, that in fact, the astronomy of the egyptians was worthless, far inferior to that of the babylonians.Whenever unserious scientists say that the pyramids are aligned to the stars, they withdraw the facts that do not comply, thereby lying. The mystery of the pyramids is not so much a mystery as hollywood wants us to believe.A model of how the pyramids could've been built has been constructed, and today such a construction would, thanks to machinery, not at all be something impossible to master. It is true that the egyptians had a simple understanding of math, but they did not use the pythagorean formula to calculate the pyramids specs, that formula wasn't discovered until Pythagoras was born in Greece. Instead they had a very effective work force, something one may admire them for, and this work force managed to create the pyramids. But I find it extremely unserious to speculate about power generators. The pyramids were built by the Pharaos to impress the people.Back then the people thereby viewed (understandibly) the Pharao as close to a god, seeing how he could construct something like this(although the pharaos didn't do anything). If you enjoy pyramids and ancient egyptian culture, I suggest that you read a more serious book than this one.
Rating: Summary: A Must-Read Review: This is a must-read for anyone interested in new and evolving theories about the pyramids at Giza. As orthodox Egyptologists cling evermore tightly to their pyramids-as-tombs theories, engineers, scientists, and the curious are exploring the facts and, yes, burying the tomb theory once and for all. The author explores the facts of the dimensions of the great pyramid with the attention that only an experienced engineer can give. Don't let that put you off if you are not of the technical persuasion. There is plenty to sink your teeth into. The author also searches out the opinions of people who work with large masonary projects on a day-to-day basis. These anecdotes are very enlightening. If you are new to alternative theories of the pyramids, I would recommend this book along with Fingerprints of the Gods by Hancock.
Rating: Summary: Giza Pyramid power plant Review: I have never accepted the Egyptologists belief that the Pyramids were intended to be tombs. I have always felt that the Egyptian Priests were more scientist than religious leaders. The Giza Pyramid Power Plant makes a plausable explanation of the purpose of the great Pyramid at Giza
