Summary: Good introduction
Review: This was a pretty good introduction to the Maya. It has a lot of good reference materials in it, such as time lines and maps. In some areas the writing is a little dry and dull, but overall I felt like I had gotten a fairly good overview of the Maya when I was done. He presents both popular and marginal theories on the various mysteries of the Maya. He is thourough in covering the various aspects of the Maya and I felt it was a good place to start if you are interested in learning more about this culture.
