Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best of its series
Review: Although i don't like (Recall Series) much, but i've changed my idea after i used this book!! As 5th medical student, i highly recommend this book to be used in your surgery rotation. Together with (NMS Surgery), you will be smart..:)

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good for rounds, need extra for the shelf exam!
Review: Everybody seems to love this text, and it is extremely useful at the hospital for those 5-10 free minutes to prepare on on of your cases/patients. Warning: My friends that read only this book and listened the the lectures did poorly on the shelf exam. I suggest reading The Essentials of General Surgery text by Lawrence, which I checked out of the library, cover to cover. This was an excellent text that is in depth enough to prepare you for the shelf, but short enough that you can read the entire thing in about 6 weeks.

Summary: The Holy Grail of Surgery Books for the Med Student
Review: How could anyone not like a book where the author's first and last names rhyme? This is an incredible book, easily the best in the Recall series, and could very well be the most useful book I have ever read on any topic. No filler, boring anecdotes, or pointless stories of some author trying to impress you with how cool he/she is, just plain facts. This book was ideal for the oral exam at the end of my rotation. Unless you have large amounts of time to study during your surgical rotation (snicker), DO NOT buy any other text. For the love of all things sane, DO NOT read the Lawrence book. Too wordy, and doesn't have nearly as much info. as Surgical Recall. It is the greatest book. I'm just disappointed they haven't made Neurosurgery Recall yet...

Summary: great for surgery rotation!
Review: I only discovered this book when I was reviewing for the boards. Had I found it during my surgical rotations, it would have made an impact on me but it wasn't too late! I scored high on my exam (esp in surgery) thanks to this awesome book. I highly recommend it! Buzzwords, common diseases, concise format make it a 5/5 for me!
PS: I found some fave q's of my surgery residents here. Yep they love to torment us with weird stuff sometimes, but with this book, you can put one over them!

Summary: A decent book
Review: It's nice and concise, but not comprehensive by any means. I would suggest the Niederhuber textbook on general surgery (it's much easier reading than the Lawrence book, in my opinion, but a bit longer) and then use this as a pocket reference, especially if you need to find just a line on something fast. Nice section on practical stuff, e.g., the various retractors, sutures, etc.

Summary: Surgical Recall: The Only Source Needed to Succeed
Review: Just finished my 3rd year surgical clerkship, the first of the year. I am one of those middle-of-the-pack medical students, and this little gem of a book earned me Honors in arguably the most difficult clerkship. Read it front to back and know it well. You will shine.

Summary: Great if you're getting pimped at rounds, but....
Review: Surgical Recall is great for those "pimp" questions at rounds and actually not bad for oral and written exams. However, to truly get the most out of a surgery rotation (even if you're not a surgical hopeful), you should read a unified text rather than a handbook of tidbits and pearls. That said, make sure you get this book because the authors knows how to zero you in on the important HIGHLIGHTS. Fill in the blanks with a great text (Not Lawerance! I used Sabiston and the baby Sabiston) and you'll shine.

Summary: Quick, Informative and easy to read Review book!
Review: Surgical Recall is the book, I saw first when i was just buying some surgery books on a book store. I studied a few pages, and found it very easy to understand. It is really a good book, especially if you just want to have a quick review before exams. Now it is very exciting that about 50 of my classfellows are using this book.I would suggest to study a text book before using this book.

Summary: very good, everything you must know.
Review: Surgicall recall by Lorne H. Blackbourne is really the culmination of several years' effort and hard work.

congratulation. Franck T. TIRGARI
