Summary: amazing
Review: Talbot presents an easily accessible model that explains, all at once, some of the most glaring conceptual gaps in both quantum physics and neuroscience, and at the same time puts "mystical" experiences on a firm scientific footing. This book is filled with *fascinating* anecdotes, historical stories and information, and recountings of rigorous scientific studies that have come to some surprising conclusions. The only possible critique I could offer is that in some places, how what is being discussed relates to "holographic" theory is either not clearly defined, or seems to me to have a coincidential resembelance at best. But then, given that this is still a theory very much in it's infancy, that's to be expected. Get it now!

Summary: Revolutionary Book.
Review: This book did change my view of reality. After a very minor but quite possibly 'paranormal' incident happened to me. I went on a search to find an explanation. This is where I found it. Granted, this book basically answers any question you could possibly have but it lead my to the works of David Bohm. This book contains some of the most revolutionary ideas I've ever seen and comes off not sounding (for the most part) like it was written by a guy who's done way too many drugs. Contained within its pages are the answers to problems of physics, philosophy, religion, and probaly who killed JFK if you look hard enough. The only problem is much of what Talbot says can never be proven. Think of reality as being a wave and what we can see and understand is simply the crest. If this image intrigues you at all buy this book.

Summary: The Holographic Universe
Review: I have been reading books of all kinds for many years and; there is not a better and more enjoyable book on my shelf then Michael's book. A spiritual journey of the highest magnitude. He has great courage to speak out on such an important matter. This is the plate tectonics of science and religion; and it is only the beginning of our journey into the advanced chapters knowing where we are and how we are all connected to the cosmos. I am now home forever, thanks Micahel. And you do know how to write! Love you.

Summary: Over and Over Again
Review: I have lived with this book for two or more years. Have read it at least five times and still find it totally fascinating. I am a seeker and so many things that Michael wrote answered so many of my forever questions. It has inspired me. My art work deals with transformation. Talbot indicated the close relation between the physists and the mystics and the possibilty that we can access unthought of realms through the holographic mind/brain/spirit complex.

Summary: "The Holographic Universe"
Review: The concept of the universe as a giant hologram containing both matter and consciousness as a single field will, I am sure, excite anyone who has asked the question, "What is reality?" This book may answer that question once and for all."

Summary: Mind-Blowing!
Review: Talbot, drawing on decades of work by Stanislov Grof and Bohm, illustrates the Holographic model of the Universe which allows us to explain miracles and other paranormal experiences as valid events that conform to the Laws of Nature!

The Miracles of the Saints don't seem so farfetched now and the credentials of those cited is astounding, especially Grof and Bohm both leaders in their respective scientific fields. This is one book surely to blow your mind and return a sense of wonder to all of life!

Summary: Not my thing
Review: It started out really promising. An inventive new model of the physical universe based on the ideas of two of worlds leading scientists, that could help better explain the architecture of reality itself and the existence of parellel universes by relating it to the principal of how a hologram works. Pretty neat! I definately recomend reading the first two chapters at least. From here it gets really (I thought) weird. He seems to find a way to relate the holographic model to everything under the sun, from the placebo effect, the afterlife, Hinduism, yogis and eastern phliosophy (which he seems to relate all but the first two chapters too), and even miricals and UFO's. Most of what we don't understand about reality such as visions (ie of Christ, Saints, ect.) and ghost sitings (ie the paranormal) is usually chalked up as the result of the manifestation of a person's subconsious, projected outside their body, and probobly not real, (according to Talbot.) But things and visions revealed under hypnosis or meditation (yes, meditative visions are often presented in this book) have very deep validity and meaning. I found this to be a bit biased. However, if you're into this kind of thing, this is the book for you.

Summary: Science or experience
Review: The beauty of this book is the acknowledgment of phenomenon that many people have either witnessed or experienced and yet cannot explain in the context of science. It is only in fairly recent times that the god of science has reigned with such an iron fist; of course, we are living in a society that is the product of scientific discovery, but what is your perception of this society? Why do we look to science to offer explanations for our experiences? This book seeks to explore a model of our universe and all that is in it, in such a way that is both readable and vast in its substance. Here we have a link between up-to-the minute scientific discovery and that which has been the opposite end of the spectrum, magic and mysticism. As an astrologer, my interest is to explore the connectivity between perception and events within the framework of the cosmos. The Aquarian Age is as much about breaking down barriers and creating new paradigms, and now with the advent of technological communication at an unprecedented level, we are able to make those important links. I love the way this book is inclusive of those subects usually rejected by science and is able to grasp the nettle of some thorny exceptions to a scientific straitjacket.

Summary: A stimulating revelation of an incredible theory of reality
Review: i have not even finished half of this book and i am already in awe of this holographic paradigm. perhaps it is because i have always been wary of the confidence we put into modern scientific theory. i am quite certain that we are far from a "complete" theory of physics, and that we may never find an end to the dynamics of the universe. anyone who feels that science is a ladder you climb to get to the top, you probably won't even try to read this book -- and i think that is probably a good idea.

never have i learned of such a unique and simple explanation for so many phenomena i have heard of, and some that i have witnessed myself. because of this, i hungrily progress through this book.

i have a comment on a review posted by "Joseph Pierre, Author of THE ROAD TO DAMASCUS: Our Journey Through Eternity."

he mentions that the 'analogy' of how a hologram is produced confuses him somewhat. i think that this is an inaccurate interpretation of the meaning in the book. i believe that the analogy used is not to the production of a hologram but how the "illusion" of a 3D image can be perceived from a seemingly random interference pattern.

i believe the lesson to learn is that what we SEE as reality is in fact an ILLUSION created by our brain, which inputs the interference patters through our senses and interprets them into what we see as reality. this is similar to Plato's analogy of "The Cave". however, since this is only an illusion, any theories of physics that we base on it will only be explaining reflections of the true physics of the universe. thus, we can never fully explain all phenomena with such a shallow perspective. if we ever want to understand what's really going on "out there", we will have to explain it in terms of its TRUE fabric, and not in terms of the reflection of the fabric that we THINK we see.

thus, there is not necessarily a "reference beam" of the universe that is split and reflected off of a cosmic object. this is taking things too literally. rather, the universe is a sea of interference patterns, and sentient life has the unique ability to interpret the patterns into perception. in a sense, there is no laser that creates the original image, but our brains are the laser that creates the illusion of a 3d reality out of these NATURALLY occuring interference patterns.

best regards, dave

Summary: perhaps a new Scientific Revolution ??
Review: This book will really get you contemplating !!! The Holographic Universe is a new "Theory of Everything." Most models of the natural macrocosm need to reject paranormalism. (hence the use of the word NATURAL) This model has room to let in just about any phenomenon. A bit like, "You name it, and the holomovement explains it." There's even some room for synchronicity =) It will be opposed by the more conservative scientists but the model is actually alot more sufficient and satisfactory than their own Cosmologies. I think this book is going to be met with loads of skepticism by the higher authorities. But judging by Talbot's writing, he doesn't seem too affrighted by this matter. Perhaps they won't be opposing holographic hypothesises in general, however a physics book about NDE's, UFO's, Stigmata and Mysticism.. to his own personal werewolf transformations and trickster poltergeists. Things like this shall certainly feed chuckles to a skeptic's belly, but I really hope that before they dismiss them they realize the implications of the Holographic Universe Theory. That in it, a reality comprised less of solid objects traveling in space & time, and more of ghostly holograms of energy sustained by processes that are at least partially connected to human consciousness, miracles ARE possible, even "natural" (and I suppose therefore not actually 'miracles' in the religious sense) The broad purport is that our brains mathematically construct objective reality by interpreting frequencies that are ultimately projections from another dimension, a deeper order of existence that is beyond both space and time: The brain is a hologram enfolded in a holographic universe. I found the latter portion of the book pertaining to dreams and OBE's as fascinating, and how remarkably these things were described in comparison between the traditions of the ancients in their own writings and philosophy. I really must recommend this work to just about anyone for a brand new alternative perspective on the nature of "REALITY" !!!!
