Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Netter's is a necessity for any student of medicine
Review: Of all the anatomy resources, Netter's is the ultimate combination of elegance, style, and functionality. Frank Netter's artistry is to anatomy what Norman Rockwell's is to Main Street America.

Every gross anatomy lab group should have at least one of these durable books that handle the fomalin spills as good as any and make a difficult subject just a little more "do-able."

While every cadaver has it's eccentricities, Netter's is the standard for what they all should look like and provides mainstream guidance in an area full of variations and subtleties.

Lots of anatomy software is out there and is great, but until they make a laptop that is formalin proof, Netter's is a must. Netter's makes the "highly recommended" list from the physicians and cofounders of medicalstudent.net.

Summary: One of, if not the best, anatomical atlases on the market.
Review: Atlas of Human Anatomy by Frank H. Netter is by far one of the most detailed and comprehensive anatomical texts on the market. Full color high quality drawings clearly illustrate almost every aspect of the musculo-skeletal, nervous, visceral and fascial systems of the human body. Whether you are a lay-person and simply curious about human anatomy or are a trained professional in the medical, para-medica, or complimentary healthcare field you will find this text to be truly indespenceable.

Summary: THE BEST
Review: I'm a 3rd year medical student, this atlas is the best you can imagine to illustrate, in a clear and real way, the human anatomy. It is essential complement for the anatomy textbooks, it helps you picture in your mind what you are reading. Personally, I will never forget what I learned from Netter.

Summary: Best Illustrationalist around!!!
Review: I am a first year medical student in singapore and using Netter's Atlas of Human Anatomy helps me to visualise the human body, which i find difficult to do by just reading the textbooks on anatomy. It is really a must for all medical students as no other atlas is so detailed and so colourful and so easy to understand.

Summary: Netter is a God among physicians for good reason ...
Review: Frank Netter achieved the nearly impossible during his lifetime as a medical illustrator and physician. He managed to clearly illustrate the human anatomy, highlighting the key features of each area, while still maintaining a 'realistic' look to his works. When your physician visualizes your anatomy in his/her mind, it is Netter's work being seen. Ask any doc - no one else even comes close. 'Looking it up in Netter' is the solution for every student of medicine, from the first year of medical school to the 5th decade of surgery. I have no doubt this book will still be used in medical schools 100 years from now. Simply put, a masterpiece.

Summary: Imperdível

Summary: EL mejor Atlas de Anatomia Humana que existe

Summary: I own my A in Gross Anatomy to one man, Frank Netter.
Review: the book made learning gross less fearful than it initialy was......

Summary: Not just for students!
Review: A good anatomy atlas is invaluable in clinical practice as well!

I regularly pull out my (previous edition) atlas to (1) teach patients the anatomy involved in various problems ("this is why we need to do XYZ"), AND (2) to localize an injury (dermatome pictures, foot and hand ligaments and muscles)...

I wish this had been available when I was in medical school - it would have made anatomy a lot more accessible.

Summary: Illustrations could be better
Review: This entire book consists of color illustrations of human anatomy. No explanation - just pictures. That was what I was looking for. I got this to study from to improve my drawing. I wouldn't recommend it for that purpose. The quality of the illustrations is OK, but definitely not good. It is sad to see such high quality print job go to waste.

In terms of medical use: It is easy to locate structures, both using the index and when mentally separating the object of interest from background in pictures. (I was premed so I have used this for anatomy.) Probably Netter was drawing a diagrammatic ideal human. The vagueness in the illustrations is good or bad depending on your purpose.

This is a good book for anatomy and medical students to study from. It is extremely expensive, but so are all your books. If you are studying anatomy to improve your art then you are better off going with a photo based book or even a reprint of Vesalius. I don't know what to recommend (still looking), but with this atlas you will likely be disappointed. Just look at the cover to see why. Netter's illustrations leave much to be desired.
