Summary: Excellent, thought-provoking theories! Spooky, though
Review: "Fingerprints of the Gods" is a great book! Mr. Hancock explores the ancient enigma of an advanced prehistoric civilization well. He's a good writer and its easy to get swept up in the search for mankind's origins. But one question. Where did this ancient civilization come from? It couldn't sprung up out of thin air. To answer that question, I believe that we need to look up into the night sky at the stars.

Summary: Thought provoking eye opener. A must read!!!
Review: "Fingerprints" was my first introduction to Graham Hancock. I enjoyed his writing style. It was as if I had tagged along with him on an investigative journey for a lost advanced civilization. Beautiful and illustrative photographs by Santha, his spouse, brought life to the trip.

The author brings together an incredible amount of scholarly research to support his argument and presents it in a very readable and enjoyable fashion. It will keep you turning the pages. Whether or not you accept the author's theories, he has put forth questions that can no longer be ignored by the orthodox scientific community.

Anyway, as an "aficionado" to the quest for lost civilizations of remote antiquity, I am already half way into Graham's "The Message of the Sphinx" (coauthor Robert Bauval) ordered through Amazon.com, of course!

Summary: Very interesting work.
Review: I stand in awe of Mr. Hancock's learning and perspicacity. I have only one problem with an otherwise brilliant work. I submit that Mr. Hancock is inconsistent in his criticism of the Catholic Church. He blames the Church for destroying priceless manuscripts, he does not blame the individuals that were responsible for these actions, but the Church as a whole. I consider this to be inconsistent with his praise of several Friars (cf. Sahagun). According to his\ former standard of judgement, he ought to thank the Church for preserving what it did. Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading this work; and I in no way detract from Mr. Hancocks erudition. Thank you!

Summary: FOR TRUTH SEEKERS EYES ONLY
Review: This book I believe is on the right track. Amazing and anomalous pre-historic human creations slap us in the face every day as if to say, "Figure it out stupid!", and what do we do about it? This is what Graham Hancock addresses so well in the book FINGERPRINTS OF THE GODS. This book is an eye-opener to so-called historians and their university cohorts. Their cookie cutter aproach to the history of humanity has left huge gaps in our history which scream to be filled. The author barrages the reader with undeniable facts that have been glossed over or buried for the last hundred years by archeologists and university types with whom we trusted to safeguard the truth. Mr. Hancock has shown us many new possibilities with his alternative history of our species. He also points out very well the culpability of present day academics at what should be considered at the very least an abuse of trust. I encourage anyone to read this book. But with one small warning; be prepared to THINK!

Summary: There should be more books like this one
Review: Thank you, mr. Graham Hancock, for your wonderful work. Since there are already many long reviews, I'll be brief, but I wish to rebute those "skeptics": first, why is the theory that the Kheops pyramid was Khufu's tomb such an "established fact"? We have little to no evidence of this. This book is not junk, it has excellent points and raise many questions. To those saying it left unanswered questions, please know that it was not the point at all. Mr. Hancock doesn't think his hypothesis as some sort of absolute truth, far from it. He's just rebutting traditional history, which should be done more often.

Summary: OPENER OF THE MIND!
Review: I read this book some 3 years ago,and I must say it changed my outlook on many things. Not an Academic on any of the subjects in the book myself but since reading this book I have developed a strong interest in Astronomy and Archaeology.Full of extensive data I myself am doubtless that was and will be shot down the narrow minded sceptics and religous nuts of the world. But hey,the same relgous types told us the world was flat not so very long ago.Maybe they're all related. This book will,if you're of adventurous mind start you off on a sort of mission ,checking out books of similar type and subject, which ,at the time I had no internet, but now I see the advantages of a service Amazon supplies.Checking out reviews from around the world is of immense benefit. Also the service of pointing you towards other similar books will be of great service. To finish I'll just say I am a sceptic to a certain degree on many points in the book .Many of his theories I have since read other publications which lead me to believe he is not totally correct, but either way ,when you're finished,if you are like me ,your vision of the documented world history will be turned on its head.Read on!!!

Summary: Imaginative writing lacing technical/theoretical brilliance!
Review: What makes Hancock a serious mind in the archeo-scientific theories of our day is his relentless persistence to detail and data. How refreshing, exciting and very, very disconcerting. If we read between the lines of Hancock's hypothesis we must question and requestion our thoughts and theories on our own origins. Yet human origin theories have become culturally pious and for someone like Hancock to suggest that there lived a highly advanced race far back in prehistory challenges not only accepted theory, but the scientific graven images of evolutionary tradition.

Hancock wastes no time getting to his point. Chapter one is a bombshell, revealing ancient maps of pre-ice Antarctica! Fantasy? Hancock upturns every stone and question and lets the reader decide.

The rest of the book is fast paced writing (Hancock has a colorful and imaginative writing style) describing the geological, mythological, archeological and mathmetical clues that repaint the ancient world of Egypt, Cambodia and Central/South America not as upstart civilizations emerging from the Stone Age but as copycat civilizations built upon the knowledge and tradition of a lost, ancient and highly advanced race. What makes the book so gripping is not the ultra creative theories pronounced, but the volumes of technical data that support his claims.

EXCELLENT, GRIPPING, CHALLENGING! This book will be remembered when the current theories of human origins crumble and recede into the ocean of scientific truth yet to be revealed!

Summary: Personally inspiring
Review: I cannot help but wonder how anyone can simply dismiss this work as an uneducated attempt to shed light on a non existant scientificly advanced race in pre-history. The mere fact that the Great Pyramid incorperated Pi, while allowing the base to be the size of the earths equator to the scale of 1:43,200 signifies the work of a VERY highly advanaced scientific mind. The links between legends in Egypt, Peru and Mexico, discribing the same character as a white, bearded man in robes and sandles, suggests that there MUST have been some sort of contact. I also find myself wondering why Egyptologists, whos sole job is to provide the human race with accurate information, cleanly dissmiss facts which contridict a mere 150 years of research, then openly accept facts from the same source which does them justice. As a reader of the works of Edgar Cayce, I also find myself in awe of the "Myth" of the lost vaults scattered around the world, hidden untill a time when the human race will find it to benifit mankind, and his (Edgar Cayce) readings of the "Hall of Records". 150 years of research does not do justice to the existance of over 5000 years of history. Afterall, how long did we believe the earth was flat? I went into this book, without a single doubt in my mind, that a lost...highly advanced civilization existed at one time through out antiquity, and came out simply awestruck at the connections thoughout the world. I have always been very, very intersted in Ancient History and this book only ignited my passion to a new height, Graham, THANK YOU!

Summary: Questions which need to be answered
Review: Thanks are due to Graham Hancock for showing us that the "truths" we have been meant to believe in are not what they seem. I read the book quite recently and although I found the style in parts quite sensational, it's content is immensely thought-provoking and challenges the way in which we hitherto have regarded the past. Hancock raises a lot of questions we can not disregard as mere fantasy, it'd be interesting to see an attempt made at answering them.
