Summary: goes to show
Review: If Sitchin is indeed correct about the origins of our species, then it explains why some refuse to see the facts that he has found. I guess we will all know in 12 years when Nibiru is due to be visible again. Fear might be a reason for disbelief, as well as incomprehension of the material, and an unwillingness to rethink ones religion. In the end, it doesn't matter if we call Pluto a grape or a pebble, the fact is that ancient people knew it was there! How? And why such a frenzy to launch space telescopes and probes? Is there something the government and the media don't want to tell us? Do they "hear" something that they can't see from the ground?

Summary: title called to me
Review: I was in a bookstore about 20 years ago when it seemed the l2th Planet jumped off the book to me. I returned later and bought it. It was an eye opener and answered a lot of questions that Christianity doesn't. I would certainly like to know more about Mr. Sitchin. We have to open our minds and realize that we are not now and never have been alone in this universe and would be ignorant to even think so.

His book lets us know that things haven't always been the way they are now, (ie: the sun rising in the west) and I find that fascinating. We are probably in the middle stages as far as the creation process continues and in the beginning there was a lot of bombardments and breaking up of large bodies into small planets.

As far as the 12th planet being able to substain life in its distant orbit, why do we have to think of every life having our needs. Apparently, Nibiru passes other suns or perhaps they have developed an underground existence or some such for survival.

Also, when the Bible speaks of the gold and jewels in my father's house, it is perhaps speaking of the jewel-laden streets on the 12th planet. I have always felt, even as a child, that the New Testament is a history of extraterrestials on Earth.

The book has been on my mind for decades. I will now devour the Earth Chronicles. I'm glad someone has dared research the truth. What difference does it make if we evolved or were created by an alien race? We are here.

And the myths of old are about the gods from the 12th planet.

Thank you Zecharia Sitchin for cracking open the door of possibilities.

Summary: 2 Stars for Sitchin's Creativity
Review: This is yet another book that discounts the enterprise, intelligence, and creativity of the ancients. In its place, Sitchin recreates Sumerian history to owe its accomplishments to some far-off, implausible world that certainly has no basis in fact--archaeological, astronomical, or otherwise. It's also interesting to note that these theories of ancient astronauts, as purveyed by von Daeniken, Hoagland, Hancock, et al., all come from a time when humanity is beginning to develop space travel. Before space travel was theorized or even novelized, the idea of astronauts from other worlds was virtually non-existent. The reason for such thinking may be all too obvious: whatever the era, societies tend to view themselves as the pinnacle of cultural achievement, and often use their own standard to interepret and evaluate past cultures. We can only understand a past culture by the actual physical evidence it provides, and it seems the challenge of archaeology lies not in spinning fanciful tales, but in divulging from the data what actually existed.

Summary: How could an intelligent person be taken in by this?
Review: I asked myself after reading this book: How could an intelligent person be taken in by this garbage. The obvious answer is they couldn't be.

Summary: Jives with recent scientific discoveries
Review: I had heard about this book from reading Jim Marr's "Alien Agenda" and at first I dismissed the idea that aliens could be living on a planet beyond Pluto or that such a planet, if it did exist, could evade discovery by our astronomers. However, just last month a couple of scientists reported that there is evidence of a very large planet or a Brown Dwarf outside the orbit of Pluto. It's estimated size and distance jive with Sitchin's descriptions of the "12th Planet" in his book.

Also, recent theories that have been proposed on the moon's origin state that the moon was formed after a Mars size planet collided with the Earth. This seems to give creedence to Sitchin's studies wich suggest that a moon of the 12th planet collided into a planet in the orbit between Mars and Jupiter which split the planet in half, sending one half (the Earth) to it's current orbit and creating the asteroid belt with the other half. The moon, according to Sitchen formed before this collision but was formed from matter of the original Earth. How this occured is not quite clear.

This book also explains why the God of the old testiment seems so schitzophrenic at times and refers to himself in plural form in some instances and in singular form in others. This, according to Sitchin, is because the Hebrew scriptures were an abridged version of the ancient Sumerian texts which were written earlier. According to the Sumerians, there was not one God, but many. However, there was one God who was in charge of all the Gods on the Earth. Maybe this is where the more recent idea of God and his angels came about?

This book provides excellent evidence that either an alien race settled our planet thousands of years ago or that the ancient Sumerians had acquired astronomical knowledge rivaling what we have today.

Summary: Nebiru...that's the ticket! WHAT A STRETCH!!
Review: Tommy Flanagan from Saturday Night Live called...he wants his line of crap back! Wow! This is by far the most ridiculous and preposterous line of nonsense I have EVER heard in my life! This is coming from someone that fully ackowledges the probability of extraterrestrial life. However, when one attempts to scientifically justify or even non-scientifically imagine the planetary environment that would exist on a planet with a 3000+ year eliptical deep-space orbit, one must reach to call it a planet instead of a large asteroid. Even your local weatherman on TV can easily explain that atmospheric dynamics are predicated by the relationship between a planet and its sun...the only exception being Jupiter, which emits more energy than it receives due to the composition of its atmosphere and the resulting "greenhouse effect". In any event, even Jupiter must remain in its stable orbit to maintain its atmosphere.

Sitchin appears to be well-educated and thoughtful, but I simply cannot get on board with his theories. They seem to dovetail closely with those of the whacko Marshall Applewhite and his suicidal cult followers in California in that they are predicated on the return of a "heavenly body on a 2000+ year eliptical orbit".

In closing, I respect Sitchin's right to express his views, but I cannot even remotely reach the same conclusions based on the "evidence", which is so subjective it can be manipulated to either side of the arguement! It appears he might have come up with a hypothesis first, then went about finding evidence after the fact to support his supposition...this is not science and seems to be an all-to-common theme in today's "researchers" in this field.

Summary: Challenging to read, but an incredibly important work.
Review: I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Sitchin in Altanta a few years ago. He is almost 80 years old and is from the Palestine/Israel area. He researched the material for the Earth Chronicles for over 30 years before he picked up a pen to begin writing. He has mastered the Sumerian language and that in itself is reason enough to read his books. The book is well documented and has extensive footnote information. It is one of the most difficult books I have ever read, but I believe it is one of the most important. I truly believe the man is on the right track and that all the information about the origin of our solar system, where we came from, how we developed and where we are going has been here all the time left for us in the oldest known recorded language of the land of Sumer.

Summary: A MUST READ REVIEW OF THE LIFE OF EARTH
Review: MR SITCHIN CREATES AN ASTOUNDING AMOUNT OF QUESTIONS IN MY MIND WETHER OR NOT I AGREE WITH HIS INTERPRETATIONS. AND INTERPRETATIONS IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU WILL BE READING IN THE 12TH PLANET. ALTHOUGH HIS LENGTHY FACTS THAT BUILD ON HIS ASUMPTIONS AND SELF INTERPRETED PROPHECY LEAD TO LONG AND HARD READING-WHICH IS WHAT I REFER TO AS TECHNICAL READING AS OPPOSED TO MINDLESS READING. IF YOUR ATTENTION SPAN AND CURIOSITY IS AT HIGH END, THEN THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU. IF NOT IT WOULD MAKE A NICE ADDTION TO YOUR COLLECTION FOR IT'S EXOTIC CONVERSATION INVOKING NATURE. THE THOUGHT OF A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LIFE IN FORM(ARRANGEMENT OF DNA AND #OF LADDERS) RATHER THAN MUCH SUBSTANCE(CHEMICAL COMPOSITION). TO ME SITCHIN POSTULATES THAT THE HUMAN RACE WAS PERIODICALLY ADVANCED THROUGH GENETIC MANIPULATION(TO IMPROVE PRIMITIVE PRIMATES ABILITY TO WORK FOR NATURAL RESOUCES) INCLUDING THE HIGHER BEING'S DNA(CREATED IN HIS OWN IMAGE?) SOON PROCREATION WITH THEIR NEW CREATION BECAME NATURAL AND VICEFULL. THE MELTING POT OF GENES WERE A GENERATION OF DEMI-GODS THAT DISPLEASED THE BEINGS(GODS)AND MUCH TAKES PLACE SIMILAR TO BIBLE STORIES, ALTHOUGH "THE EPIC OF GILGAMESH" COMES TO MIND. IF YOU ARE OPEN MINDED AND THIS REVIEW INVOKES EAGERNESS TO LEARN FROM A WELL EDUCATED SCHOLAR BUY THE BOOK AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THOUGHT--- SHANEPOOF@HOTMAIL.COM

Summary: makes you want to dig more into history and religion
Review: When I first found out about this book I thought it was another Van Donikin, you know the author who believed that every mysterious thing in the past that looked like a space ship, or spaceman was actually that. But, the more I dug into this book, the more facinated I became. So much so, that I started to cross refer to the bible and delved further into books about the Mesopotamians. it seems that a lot of what he claims bears out. I was also able to cross refer to another book (the title of which evades me at this moment) which relates the ancient gods to the collision of Mars with this planet and my own visual correlation of geological phenomena in Israel. Finally to cap it all, I have always had my doubts about the Christian faith, even though I am a Christian. Now I am going down a road of research which tells me that Christianity is all about astrolonomy, dressed up so that it will not die.

Summary: The primer of extraterrestrial intervention.
Review: Read this book as a base for exploring the world of extraterrestrial intervention and an explanation of UFOs and beyond. Sitchin's work is seminal, and most excellent scholarship; however, his work stops at the spiritual and metaphysical boundary. There is much material out there that takes Sitchin's work into the realm of the utterly fantastic. For a really far out ride try the Talmud of Jmmanuel - the original book of the gospel of Matthew; The Pleiadian Mission by Randolph Winters; or The ET Vision by Gina Lake. These books will fill in gaps left by Sitchin and set his work in perspective. And if you want to read a truly unique perspective of the ancient astronaut theory, check out Flying Serpents and Dragons by R.A. Boulay - a compelling theory that postulates that the Anunnaki were extremely advanced reptilian extraterrestrials.
