Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The best primary care orthopedic text on the market Review: Straightforward, to-the-point, very relevant for the busy outpatient clinic. My other orthopedic texts are collecting dust. Worth every penny. The only criticism I have of the text is their scanty, incomplete coverage of osteoporosis. This section is too cursory and out-of-date. It barely addresses densiometry and doesn't mention newer therapies such as alendronate in the treatment of osteoporosis. The emergence of alendronate predates the publication of this volume by at least 2 years so advancing medical science is not an excuse. My suggestion for future additions is to eliminate the osteoporosis section and leave it to an internal medicine text and include more fracture management in its place--even the management of osteoporotic fractures. Any section in this book should be able to stand alone in terms of being able to render appropriate evaluation and treatment guidelines without having to consult additional texts. The chapter on osteoporosis fails in this regard.

It shows pictures of the relevant body part, with shaded areas that correlate to the pain produced by common problems.
It also gives succinct treatment options and prognostics. I have often taken it into the room to show my patients.
The quick overview of procedures is also excellent.
This is the first textbook I bought for my own practice and I use it daily. Highly recommended.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Easy to use Review: This book is easy to understand. I work in a large orthopaedic surgical practice and have to get procedures approved with insurance companies on a daily basis. This book breaks down everything (signs, symptoms, what they mean) into terms that can be explained in everyday terms. It makes my job a lot easier and I have to ask the doctors less questions because this book tells me what everything means, how the doctors came to the diagnosis they did, etc. Most people that work with doctors know that they don't always tell how they know what they know. This book makes it easier. I call it "Orthopaedics for Dummies". I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a better understandng of the musculoskeletal system.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The best practical orthopaedic book out there! Review: This book is without a doubt the best practical day to day book on incorporating orthopaedics in your practice. I have reviewed many and this is by far the best. The section on pediatrics alone makes this book worth owning. Precise, accurate and fun to read. Sections on anatomy and procedures are a plus, too. This is a must for any family practice clinic. If you're looking for one ortho book. Get this one!
