Summary: Useful for the serious student.
Review: A serious and thorough treatment of massage for the academic or student. Professionals will appreciate the anatomical charts and references. A bit long winded at times. Good cross referencing.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A MUST if you enjoy massage
Review: After graduating from school I thought,"How many more books do I really need?" But I have no regrets buying this one- my therapist friends have borrowed it and realized they want it, as well.

Artists have actually painted the muscles, including origin and insertion, over the photograph of each models body. Landmarks and hand positions are so easy to follow, and synergist muscles also noted for treatment purposes. I use this a lot as I work on clients form my home, it is very informative and well formatted. Various strokes as well as pressure and trigger points are also noted.
Not necesssarily for beginners, but perfect for expanding, or reviewing, what you already know. This book would also be very helpful in studying efforts for the NCBTMB national exams. I found it it perfect in review for my test.

Summary: Brilliant Anatomy
Review: Brilliant work on presenting anatomy in conjunction with massage. The drawing of the muscle on the model's body allows us to visualize where is the muscle located. The only complaint is that many of the techniques use thumb.

Summary: A MUST HAVE FOR EVERY MASSAGE THERAPIST!
Review: Excellent material, techniques and pictures. I browse through it every night and still find new info that I missed the first time through. Awesome book!

Summary: Where was this book when I was in school?
Review: I have been a practicing Licensed Massage Therapist for about 2 years and this is the absolute BEST anatomy book I have seen. It is especially helpful because it is geared specifically towards bodyworkers, not doctors. It is clearly organized and the pictures are fantastic. I would have loved to have this book when I was in school, but it is a great reference book for practitioners. Worth every penny.

Summary: Exactly what I wanted!
Review: I know nothing of massage and I couldn't figure out heads or tails from the many massage books I had purchased until I received Basic Clinical Massage Therapy by Clay and Pounds.

Will I read the book in it's entirety and use every method, absolutely not, but now I can literally see the muscles and the anatomy and understand what it is that I'm working on in each and every part of the body and do some good, it's a bargain at $45!

I'd say this is the bible of massage!

Summary: Schools should use this instead of The Trail Guide/Biel
Review: I love this book. One of the best things about it is that instead of pen and ink drawings (like the Biel book) it has color drawings on top of real photos of people. I find this much more understandable and can quickly implement massage techniques it recommends for the particular muscle it is illustrating. Glad I bought it!

Summary: RN's viewpoint
Review: The best of many, many books I have used for physical therapy approach to major medical problems. This is the most workable book with, by far, the best medical illustrations for the professional and the amateur alike. I have used Dr. Janet Travell's books, which are the benchmark for all musculo-skeletal manuals, but this is the book I use to put massage, trigger point, and any other therapies to use. It is the best anatomy book I have ever used, in school or on the job. It is a very safe book. In summary, the incredible artwork defining the location of muscles is the most helpful aspect of this book. Also, it is a super value for a manual of this quality.
