Summary: If you're new to BFL, the Success Journal will surely help!
Review: I am new to BFL and find the journal immensely helpful. After reading the book, I knew it was a straight-forward program and simple enough for anyone to follow, but it does take discipline..something I'm not very good at.

The journal is an awesome tool that helps me keep the focus and discipline I need to get the full benefit from the program. It adds accountability...something I really need. I enjoy sitting down each evening and thinking about what I did to succeed that day, or what I failed at and can improve on tomorrow. And when I get down, I can look at the transformation pictures and strories and realize that those people had hard days, too, and they picked themselves up and made it to the finish line, and I can too!

I really recommend it for newbies like myself to help keep on track. I'm sure that it is helping me succeed!

Summary: There's only one catch, Catch-22!
Review: I apologize, but I am a total Body-for-LIFE devotee (read Bill is my hero -- LOL!). One of the very best things that ever happened to me was learning about the BFL book (I went from 33% bodyfat to 17%). Now with my new journal I am going down to 8% bodyfat! I was fortunate to get the Journal as a Christmas present and there's only one catch -- Catch-22 -- I wish it had been designed so I could fold over the cover to half-size and record actual weights and intensity levels in the gym as I go -- I currently use the online forms that I printed out to take to the gym with me and they're handy. And I like the idea of extra blanks pages that another suggested below. But, hey, long live Bill Phillips (sung to the tune of God-save-the-King)! LOL!

Summary: Mine's missing something. A book!
Review: I bought this book thinking that it would be a great tool, a journal. I really think I could have saved my money and just have bought a binder. There isn't much to this. Just another product in the BFL enterprise. I don't look like one of the "Before" pictures yet......so, maybe Bill can come up with a Body for Life for Obesity......but I think it will take a bit longer than the short fix his answer seems to be geared for.
Book for the fit to get fitter.....not for the fat to get less fat.....

Constant motivation is key and Bill Phillips provides it. Teams don't reach the pinnacle of whatever they're trying to achieve by themselves. They need a coach. You do too and Mr. Phillips is there, via email, chat, or snail mail, if necessary. He apparently wants you to succeed.

Believeable, Genuine, Intelligent, and Inspiring.

Summary: Another Great Tool
Review: I have followed the Body For Life plan and completed it twice over and achieved incredible results. The book alone is truly revolutionary. This journal is another tool to this program which I swear by that can help add some organization along with inspiration. The two of those combined with an individual's strong desire WILL help make this program a success. Any of the pessimists who refuse to believe that you can lose so much body fat and increase lean muscle mass in such a "short" period of time either have yet to try this program or have not completed it STEP BY STEP, the way it is supposed to be carried out. I most definitely was pessimistic before I joined a friend and embarked on our 12 week "journey" together. After my first 12 weeks, I went from 28 % body fat down to 9 %. I am presently at 6 %, and at the age of 31 am in my personal best shape.

Summary: Airbrushed Photos Part II
Review: I just finished looking through Bill Phillips New Book, Body for Life Success Stories. This book is a total joke. First of all, all the pages look the same. There is no content. Second, each page includes the same picture of Mr. Phillips. This must have been done to try to fill the page. And third, what's
up with his hair? One the cover it is brown, inside it is blond.

I know that there is a great deal of controversy over his first book, Body for Life. I believe all of the before and after pictures were airbrushed and that there is a law suit. All that I can say is please don't waste your money on this book. The first one, which I am embarrased to say I bought, was bad.
This makes that look like a masterpiece. Don't waste your time.

Summary: A companion not replacement for BFL book
Review: I just received my BFL journal and I must say it is nicely done. I've used the Journal that is available through the EAS web site and there are many difference between the two. This journal has inspirational comments and stories for every day. There is space for recording all meals and workouts (both weight and aerobic).

The journal definitely needs to be paired with the book unless you are an expert in the exercises and diet recommendations. There is not enough information in this journal for someone who is not knowledgeable about BFL to formulate a plan -- you must have the book or advanced BFL knowledge to use this journal (the EAS journal includes a condensed version of the book and you could use THAT journal almost all by itself).

This is an important enough program that you should get both the book and the journal to help in your program. The advice is very common sense and this journal will help you greatly in achieving your goals.

Summary: Too much writing
Review: I love Bill Phillips and love the BFL program -- but there is just too much writing involved in this book. I did love having the work out and food journals all together in one easy place, but the book asks you to write down daily goals, etc. It asks for you to record three things (each day) that you can do to help someone else. EVERY DAY. It's just too much to ask out of me. So, if you're as lazy as I am (and you're lucky to even be doing the BFL program at all), it's a little more than I bargained for I guess. I'd be happy downloading the worksheets I need off the BFL site daily and filling them out. And it probably wouldn't cost me [so much for] paper and ink.

Summary: BUT IT!
Review: I LOVE this journal. I bought it before I bought the book...

I have ALWAYS loved to look at before and after shots and this journal guides you every day and gives you a new before and after success story every day. I LOVE that. If he would make another one, just of daily success stories... I would pay anything for it. That inspires me... these people who were totally transformed!

Also, I loved the idea of eating all day long and planning meals in advance... I was one of those people who reached for junk food because I could not find anything to eat fast... and planning meals and shopping for them has been fabulous... that one thing has made me sooo much more content with my life than the CARELESS way I was eating. I was not enjoying all that junk food... it was boring and frustrating to keep returning to it. I will tell you that I feel no need to follow the plan exactly as I write it up each night, it is enough that it gives me ideas every day for fast things I can cook or have on hand that taste great and are also great for my health... and I LOVE eating all day long!!!

I am on day 3 and the whole thing seems simple to me.

I used to always drink a bottle of water before eating a meal... and he has me doing that again. That is just the simplest thing in the world to do... if you remember... and because I review and plan for a few minutes each night, I do remember that bottle of water.

My only complaint is that there was only ONE that I could buy... I wish he had volumes 2-5 of success journals. Even if you do not follow or want his plan, the success stories will absolutely pull you in... they are amazing... just amazing!!! Buy it. You will save in junk food the cost of the book in one week.
