Review: My 10 year old daughter suffered from massive weight loss, diarrhea, stomach pain, fever, mouth ulcers. She was diagnosed with both celiac and crohn's disease 7 weeks ago. My heart broke as I read what was in store for her, ineffective meds, incapacitating symptoms, operations...while doing research, I stumbled across the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. The success stories sounded too good to be true. I was afraid to get my hopes up. But I felt it was worth pursuing before putting her on the steroids and other drugs the doctor recommended. I ordered Elaine's book, stocked up on "legal foods" and watched in amazement as my daughter began to bloom again. For the first few days, she seemed to get worse. But on the fifth day, the stomach pain stopped. A week into the diet the diarrhea stopped. And her appetite began! She eats like an NFL linebacker. My formerly picky eater consumes more calories in a day than she used to eat in a week.

Thus far, three weeks into the diet, she has gained an astonishing 11 lbs. She's gone from not even being on the doctors chart for weight, to being in the 28th percentile. She says she "feels happy again." This happened with out the use of any medication. Believe me, I will keep her on this miraculous diet. It is more work for me, but worth every minute in the kitchen.

God Bless Elaine Gottschall for writing this wonderful book. If you are searching for help with bowel disease, you owe it to yourself to at least get the book and give the diet a try.

Summary: What a Blessing!!!
Review: I wrote my comments and when I reviewed them only part of the first paragraph showed on the screen. It was quite a long testimonial to this book. It has been the information I have been seeking for 16 1/2 years! I have dealt with uncontrolled diarrhea all that time. I had my rectum removed due to cancer.
There are not enough words to describe how the SCD has changed my life in just a few short weeks. I feel like a normal individual again.
My thanks to Elaine Gottschall for all her research, time and effort in putting it on the market for those in need of healing their gut.
I would recommend it to anyone experiencing digestive problems.

Summary: Seems impossible- but it is the cure
Review: What can I say? I am the daughter of a doctor, so I did everything my doctors told me to do for 15 years: took prednisone, immurane, asacol, ate the "bland" diet. Why wouldn't I? They should know since my doctors work for a famous University. The result was I was sick 50-70% of every year. I was on predisone for 10 years straight. Then, Immurane for two years, but I was still sick several times a year. I gave up, went to the surgeon and was ready to end the years of suffering. I do not know how I found the website and this book, but I can only say I am eternally grateful! It has been a year. I am off all my meds for the first time in 15 years. I feel amazing: wokring out every day, starting a family, tons of energy. Elaine's committment to this diet and, therefore, to those who can benefit from it, is so incredible. If you are wondering if you should give it try, ask yourself what you have to lose. You have nothing to lose, except more days of your life lost to this unnecessary illness.

Summary: God and This book saved my life
Review: This book is awesome ! After suffering immensly for 2 months day in and day out with hives that no Dr. or drugs could cure (or knew why I got them one day out of the blue), I finally on the advice of my sister (who suffered diarrhea, sudden onset of asthma for no apparent reason and cronic hives for 13 months) I bought the book. I followed it 100% and did not cheat once.Though it takes some getting used to (but alot better then itching), I have been on it for 30 days now (the recommended trial time)and am nearly hive free and better mental clarity and energy! YES, the diet is working..I plan to continue on it as the book suggests for one year to be cured of idiopathic Urticaria..My Doctor says diet has nothing to do with the "condition", but I am proving him wrong.
I strongly and highly suggest this book if you have undiagnosed cronic hives or any bowel problems or stomach problems like IBS, ADHD (YES),Chrohn's,Autism,Ulcerative Colitis,cronic diarrhea,cronic constipation (I had this but not any more),poor memory (I also had), diverticulitis,celiac sprue,cystic fibrosis, mental confusion (I had),Mental disorders of long standing including Schizophrenia and bizzare behavior,seizures !
I urge you GET THE BOOK , follow it with fanatical adhearance and watch YOUR symptoms dissappear !
