Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent adjunct to algebra & TI-83 Plus instruction
Review: This book has numerous fun, thought-provoking exercises for the motivated algebra student. It includes material on sequences, series, number theory (integers & complex numbers), combinatorics, probability, matrices, linear systems & linear programming.

This book is NOT a replacement for either an introductory algebra book or introductory material covering the use of the TI-83 Plus; perhaps an earlier, negative reviewer expected it to to take the place of basic class instruction. It is, however, a challenging & useful companion book which provides exercises above & beyond a standard algebra textbook.

I have no affiliation with the author or anyone else connected with the book. I'm a very satisfied customer enjoying the challenges posed by the book, even though some are more advanced than my current level of knowledge.

Summary: DO NOT GET THIS BOOK! IT SUCKS!
Review: This book is terrible. The author doesn't explain at all how you arrive at the answers. They leave out steps, you are left guessing where to go to next. Here is an excerpt from the book:
"Then we enter X opposite Y1 on the Y= list. We press PRGM, select SUM, and enter 1, 100, and 1 in response to the prompts."
Now, when I was following along, on or about the 15 try I realized they were hitting ENTER after SUM. The instructions tell you to enter 1, 1000 in response to the prompts ... as if there were any.

Further more, if you are looking to use this book to help teach YOUR SELF algebra... or brush up on you algebra skills... forget it! The talk to you as if you have already proficient in algebra. NOT like the book introduces it self.

Save your money. Go to a movie. It would be better spent. This book is for some Ph.D. that wants to learn to use his new TI-83

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: don't waste your money
Review: This is not the right book if you want to learn algebra and use the ti 83. Keep the 20 bucks in your pocket and pass it by. Its algebra title must be a missprint!
