Summary: Excelent book to join research data and statistics
Review: As a professor of research methods I was looking for a book that was helpful to guide a complete example of data analysis. I have found a book which showme step by step the statistical spps process. I full recommend the book, I have tested it with my master students. I am waiting for a new edition.

Summary: Title says it all.
Review: The book provides good statistical information and examples on using SPSS for Windows. One of the book's strengths is that it provides hands on examples and provides guidelines and interpretation of the results. In setting out the problems, the examples lead you through the multitude of options in SPSS statistical analysis. Highly recommended.

Summary: Clearly makes SPSS understandable
Review: This book is intended for those interested in learning to use and understand SPSS. The authors take you through a step-by-step process to use SPSS. That step-by-step process is easy to follow because the book provides snapshots of the SPSS windows and outputs. Consequently, much of the work in learning SPSS can be done visually. After you learn how to point and click your way through SPSS, the authors then explain what all those numbers and outputs mean. For instance, you will learn how to decifer descriptive statistics, ANOVAs, T-test, and so forth so that you can use it in your own studies. This is a helpful and insightful book for both undergraduate and graduate students as well as those wishing to learn how to use and understand SPSS.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good Course, not Current
Review: This is a fine book for someone new to SPSS. The problem is that version 10.0 doesn't match up with the examples in the book (written before version 10.0). If you're using 10.0, get a book specifically for it.

Summary: The Book vs SPSS Versions
Review: This is a very good book for beginners. The problem is that versions of the software has been changing so rapidly; some of the instructions in the book do not conform with the changing versions of SPSS. Some functional buttons have changed positions or renamed (e.g., Analysis in place of Statistics) etc.Other than that, the book is still useful for basic statistics and could be used even with the newest versions of the software.
