Summary: Moving and funny! Back to Miguel's Cantina!
Review: This is a deeply moving story that had me in tears one minute, and laughing hysterically the next. I can only compare the emotional ride to what happens when I watch an Almodovar movie.

Fuentes has brought one of the most charming characters in her first novel back to life in First Love. Miguel changes from an obnoxious playboy into any woman's fantasy of the perfect man through the hilarious, but artfully erotic teachings, of a virgin school teacher from a small Mexican town visiting the US for the first time.

The couple beat all odds to end up together, including Gina's frightening experience when she is deported from the United States after Miguel's Cantina is raided by "La Migra." When Miguel goes after her to the town where he was born, but that he hasn't seen in years, he finds that his American ways won't work there. His re-education is funny, but touching.

This is one you won't put down until you've finished it!
