Summary: Blue Mountain Book Review
Review: Blue Mountain takes the reader cross-country by boat, rail and on horseback. This tale of adventure is set in 1898, when two United States marshals are sent to apprehend outlaws. They begin their journey in Tampa, Florida and travel to Indian Territory in Oklahoma. Wade Parker must teach his younger, more impulsive partner the ropes of being a U.S. marshal. Parker is married to Little Dove, and has a son named Dakota. A parallel story line of two white wolves migrating across the open plains captures the readers' imagination through vibrant description and narrative. Central to the story is the cyclical, interdependent nature of good deeds; that is, the chain of events which can occur when people choose to help one another. This book examines and captures not only the frontier spirit, but the human spirit as well; of cooperation, hardships, nurture and competition. The book truly celebrates this great country of ours. It allows someone unfamiliar with this country's past to pain a mental imagery of life so many years ago. Blue Mountain is a work of historical fiction intended for the young adult or novice reader.
