Rating: Summary: A wonderful historical romance set on the Colonial frontier. Review: Rebecca Wallace is left a young widow with an infant daughter after an Indian raid. She does not miss her husband, who was cruel and abusive, but she fears for the safety of her daughter in the dangerous Kentucky wilderness. Mack McGee, an army scout who found Becca and her baby in the woods, declares himself responsible for their safety and vows to bring them safely to a fort. Mack lost his mother and siblings in an Indian raid and is determined to protect Becca and her baby from that same fate. But his feelings for Becca go beyond protectiveness. Becca fears all men because of the way her husband treated her, but as she begins to trust Mack, she finds herself falling in love with him. I loved the unusual setting of this historical romance. It's hard to find books set on the American Colonial frontier. I would definitely recommend this book to romance readers who enjoy this settings.
Rating: Summary: Moon Hunter Review: Silas McGee (Mack) first meets Becca Wallace as she is hiding in a tree with her baby. He is out in the Kentucky wilderness to make sure settlers are safe from marauding Shawnee. Becca and the baby are safe, but he is unable to save her husband. Becca has never conceived of life without her brutish, abusive husband and has to readjust her idea of what life will be like. Becca realizes that Mack is the man for her. But Mack, whose childhood loss of his mother and sister still sear him, sees no future for them--or himself. This rare work's biggest strengths are its characters. A bona fide keeper!
Rating: Summary: Thrilling story, compelling characters, exciting setting! Review: The story of Becca and Mack combines tenderness, adventure and passion. The characters have flaws but through their experiences both grow and develop in realistic, satisfying ways. Becca and Mack's attraction sizzles on the page making this a great summer read (or anytime!)
