Rating: Summary: An absorbing tale of love and loyalty. Interesting. Review: I loved the way the relationship progressed between Taryn and Garrett--beautiful. Both are very strong-willed and independent people who find that love has sneaked up on them. It's also very funny that they both prefered others would continue to believe the lie that they were lovers, but when marriage was suggested to them, they both balked! I eagerly await a story for Simon d'Orlean, too!
Rating: Summary: Great book! Great characters! I loved it. Review: I loved this book! The story of Taryn and Garret, the main characters, was great. In the begining, the book was original, and it stayed that way. The character that touched me the most though, was Simon d'Orleon. In a statement by the author given to Amazon, she wondered if it was his mysterious past or his disfigured face. It was neither. It was how he was involved with the characters (i don't want to ruin it for those of you who haven't read the book by giving too much info) and his plight in the ending of the book. I was dismayed to learn that the author had stoped writing. I would love to read the story of Simon. He was such a great and unique character. This was a wonderful book, and if Simon's story is publish, i'm sure it will be as good if not better.
Rating: Summary: Another find who hasn't written in awhile Review: It's always amazing to me to browse the used book section and discover a good book published years ago I somehow missed! As soon as I finished this book I looked up the author.(This at 4am in the morning!) I hope she does take up the pen again. She has that special "spark" that draws the reader in and it would be a pleasure to see her continue writing and watch her creativity develop. This romance, set in England in the 1100's, tells the story of a "tormented hero" who inadvertantly finds himself taking the charge of an "educated (for the times) woman" away from her "wicked and greedy" brother. The hero has her fake being his mistress in order to give her a place in his household but the king (who is unaware they are pretending) won't have it, and forces them to marry. Neither wants this, although the hero finds himself attracted to her, the tragedy of his first marriage left him cold and bitter. She is unaware of this and although not clueless to the fact he doesn't want to marry, she is determined to make a place for herself in his world. Reading as they overcome their conflicts, assisted by a wily, plotting servant (who thinks she knows best) and a knight with a mysterious past and you have a story that keeps you reading until 4am! ......and Judith?....WRITE Simon's story and put us out of our misery!
Rating: Summary: It's on the Keeper Shelf! Review: Mrs Hill is a very gifted author. I read this book about 7 years ago and have kept it on keeper shelf ever since. The characters in this book are very believable with the exception of Henry. Taryn and Garret have alot of emotional moments between them and Mrs Hill writes it in a way that the reader can "feel" what they are going through. The secondary characters in the book are great to. I can't see Simon as a villain. I see him as someone with honor and a lonely life ahead. I would love to see his story or any other Medieval book that Mrs Hill would choose to write. I have also read the book Hearts Enslaved and would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoyed this book (it's also on my keeper shelf). The emotions are just as intense in that book as in this one. So please Mrs Hill, when life becomes less stressful and the creative urge strikes again, I will be one of the first in line to buy your books.
Rating: Summary: One of the BEST ROMANCE NOVELS EVER! Review: This book ties as my favorite with Johanna Lindsey's "Hearts Aflame" and Jude Deveraux's "Knight In Shining Armor" To me Judith Hill seems to be a cross between them. Seeing that there is no synopsis for this book, I will proceed to copy the SYNOPSIS FROM THE BACK OF THE BOOK. "Taryn Maitland faced the Great Earl of Arudel and let her garments fall to the ground. She had to make him want her, had to make him take her. It was the only way she could escape the hideous marriage her greedy brother had arranged. Her lecherous groom insisted on a virgin bride, so a wanton she must be. She would give herself to the handsome, powerful lord of Castle Jaune, one man her brother wouldn't dare defy. And then she would be free. Free of everything but the taste of the earl's passion on her lips, and the brand of his hands on her innocent flesh! Many women had offered themselves to Garret d'Aubigny, but none quite so unexpectedly. In no mood for a wench's tricks he scowled at Taryn's shapley form. She was delectable enough, with her flaming tresses and creamy skin. And it was his unquestionable right as liege lord to sample whatever pleasures he desired. But he did not enjoy being a scheming bride's pawn. He would have the very willing lady, but he would make certain she knew he was master here. He would make her cry out with passion, writhe with wanting, and surrender completely to his most intimate embrace." *END* Trust me when I say this is one of the most heart wrenching, touching books I have ever read. Be forewarned, have a box of Kleenex handy for this book! Thank you a million times Judith Hill for writing this WONDERFUL novel!
