Summary: The "Red Cotton Fields" is an excellent read.
Review: The Red Cotton Fields by Michael Strickland. (ISBN: 1592865534) has been out less than a year and I've read it twice. It is an excellent, riveting, and engaging saga about several old southern families and it follows the characters from prior to the civil war until several years after it and the action takes place all over the world. It is filled with romance, horror, humor, excitement and has some historical underpinnings. In addition, the book is well written. Another plus for local readers is that the author lives here in Jacksonville as well although the story takes place mostly in Georgia. This story is like a Shogun, Lonesome Dove, or Gone With the Wind. It is that good.

Review: This book was the type of book you can't put down once you start reading it. It covers the stories of three families during their times before, during and after the Civil War. A must read!
