Celeste Bates manages to escape her captors when they come to reclaim her from the grave. She flees London with the help of a sea captain/agent, who thinks she is in league with the kidnappers. She is equally distrustful of him, but that does not keep them from falling in love on their ocean voyage. Upon reaching Wilmington, North Carolina, Celeste escapes from the man who has loved, and in her eyes, betrayed her. But he is not so easily forgotten. The adventure continues with a suspenseful plot and an irresistable hero and heroine. I highly recommend Shadows of Love.
