Rating: Summary: Take a Chance on this one! Review: A struggle to find just the right spin on an advertising campaign is what brings Chance Macauley and Nick Tremaine together again after a breakup that left Chance confused and bitter, and Nick angry at circumstances that led up to his abandoning their relationship without so much as a "by your leave." Now, they must work as a team and find a happy medium that will satisfy the client. But for Chance, it's a bitter pill to swallow. Not only has Nick been brought in as the "ringer" for the campaign, but his ideas are opposite the spectrum of her vision for the product. Her heart is still soft for him as well, and it's everything she can do to try to keep their relationship strictly business; especially when Nick sees it as a golden opportunity to rekindle the love they shared 5 years ago. After an explanation of his reasons for leaving, Chance doesn't fit the mold of forgiving lover that he imagined. Nick is determined to have another chance with the one woman he loved enough to give up. If only he can find his way back to her. The path back comes in the form of a cabin deep in the woods. During of weekend of brainstorming in the mountains in New England, a snowstorm leaves them separated from the rest of the Ad team, and Nick takes her to the closest shelter; his house. Can he show her all the love that he once showered on her still exists? Wait till you read all that Nick risks to prove he is worthy of a Second Chance. And will she risk her heart and her career, knowing that Nick is different in so many ways, but exactly the same in others? I loved Second Chance because it was sexy, fun, and an entertaining read. The sexual tension is ever present, but encounters sprinkled throughout the story give a modicum of relief versus the constant build up to "the" love scene, and the turning point in many romance stories. Second Chance not only focuses on the love between the man and the woman, but also the stress of advertising, and the perceptions of a concept. I admired Chance for sticking to her guns, and Nick for trying to find a middle ground. He realizes that his career depends on the right pitch, but his heart depends on making sure that Chance's ideas are a part of it, but not compromised to his way of thinking. Though Chance questions her own instincts at times in trusting him, Nick is determined and driven to have the best of both worlds; the love of this woman, and the career he's worked so hard to pursue. Ms. O'neill's mix of sexual tension, humor, and abounding love make this a sweet romance. Giving us a glimpse into the complexities of advertising, and the balance needed to sell a product in the cutthroat Ad world today makes it a sophisticated, insightful read. I look forward to many more stories by this author. Congrats to Ms. O'Neill! A delightful tale!
Rating: Summary: MORE THAN JUST A ROMANCE! Review: Finally, a romance book that has intelligent and sophisticated characters instead of the so-common "whiners" and "alphas"...... I LOVED THIS BOOK! Even readers who shy away from so-called "romances" will be satisfied.... Five years before, Nick Tremaine left his love, Chance Macauley, without an explanation.......She didn't know he thought he had Huntington's disease and didn't want her pity.... luckily, that proved not to be the case........ Chance is a senior copywriter for SLF, a Boston advertising company.......she is thrilled that the company has a chance to nab the Martin Foods account, as she is hoping to financially help her aging parents find a permanent home in Arizona, for health reasons. The new account manager hired to help them with the project is none other than Nick! Here's where this story differs from most others..........rather than "you said, you did, you didn't" bantering back and forth, or each one trying to hurt the other, this author showed both Nick and Chance to be smart enough to keep their hurt hidden, and carry on in a businesslike and intelligent manner. The team was sent up to Vermont where they could better concentrate on the campaign. Upon arrival, Chance slipped on ice and was taken to the emergency room by Nick. After leaving the hospital, they encountered a severe snowstorm and weren't able to make it back safely to the cabin where the others were. Instead, Nick took her to his cabin which was closer...There they finally got to rekindle the love they felt for one another....the author knows how to get us to hold our breath during love scenes, that's for sure...Chance and Nick didn't just fall into bed together - rather the storyline kept building up the sexual tension until it was almost too much to bear without satisfying itself! I loved everything about this book, from the gorgeous front cover with white birch trees and snow laden ground, to the last page of this well-written romance! This reader can't wait till her next one, due out next year, called Luck of the Toss!
Rating: Summary: An Exciting, Romantic Read Review: I had never read a romance novel before, so I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. While it concentrates on the relationship between two people (Nick and Chance), there are a couple of great subplots also. I really enjoyed the look into the advertising world of Chance and Nick. The characters were very likeable and true to life. There wasn't anything that wasn't plausible, and I loved this aspect of the story. If you want an entertaining, good read that will put a smile on your face then this is a book for you.

Rating: Summary: Smart, sophisticated, entertaining reading. Review: Nick Tremaine suddenly reappears five years after he'd walked out on Chance Macauley. She had overcome her shattered dreams and broken heart, and gone on to build a life without him. Now a successful advertising copywriter, Chance sees her plans threatened once again when her former fiance shows up and competes against her for a lucrative new account. Second Chance plays out a drama of passion, challenge, and the human heart, set in the high stakes world of advertising. Superbly written, Second Chance is smart, sophisticated, entertaining reading.
Rating: Summary: Engrossing "modern" romance Review: Second Chance is a delightful romantic novel that brings together two people who once before had been together. It touches upon the issue of children caring for their aging parents while trying to continue to build a life of their own.It is written with a sincerity, as well as wimsy, that keeps you turning page after page. I found this book very enjoyable.
Rating: Summary: First-Round Knockout Review: This author's first novel is a very interesting and exciting read. O'Neill's characters come alive with interest and passion. The settings are warm and conducive to the story flow. One would hope this is a preview of the quality of work to be expected in her next novel. Bring on Round Two!
Rating: Summary: Deserves more than a second "glance" Review: Wow! - I couldn't put it down. From the beginning I was drawn into the world of Chance and Nick. I found myself hoping that Nick would find a way to win Chance back. A truly romantic novel worthy of a second read. I'm actually hoping for a movie and thinking of who should play each role!~ Hummm... Brad Pitt as Nick perhaps?Although some call this a "romance" novel, I call it a "romantic" novel. I don't read "romance" novels - too unbelievable and "formulamatic". Second Chance is definitely NOT a formula story! Buy it. Then fill your tub with hot soapy water and sink into the best story you've read in a while. You'll fall in love with Chance and Nick before the water's cold.
