Rating: Summary: Wonderful talent Review: I am writing this as a reveiw from both myself and my older sister as we thoroughly enjoyed this book. We have both read many of the romance novels by the big named authors and we must say that C.C.Colee is a new and upcoming talent that has the knack for gaining and keeping your attention on a story. From the beginning of this book the reader becomes immersed in the plight of young Aubrey Malone and her life with the pirates of the Widow Maker. Her experiences with Captain Black and his crew are tense, frightening and even humerous at times. We found characters that we could like, love and loathe. When will the next book come out? We can't stand the suspense!
Rating: Summary: This book REALLY worked for me! Review: I felt a bit seasick at times while reading Widow Maker. That is a high compliment to the co-authors who make up C.C. Colee, the ones who penned this well written seafaring tale aboard a pirate ship. Main character Aubrey sums up her plight in life when she says, "Why did I not stay in England? Perhaps a fixed marriage would not have been quite so bad after all." She refers here to running away from an oppressed existence and ending up on the pirate ship Widow Maker. But readers, don't fret; she also adds, "If only one of them had been half as handsome and dashing as these two here." The reader will be exposed to French speaking passengers, hopeful paramours for Aubrey, and shipstyle living. The voyage only begins with this book, two more follow in the trilogy. Good job, authors!
Rating: Summary: RB: The Widow Maker Review: I initially read this book as a friend had written it and asked me to read her book. I wasn't sure what I was in for, as I love to read and get lost in a story, but I get bored easily. I have always been interested in the many pirates that ravaged the seas, so this book peaked my interest. I have spent many a summer at Cape Hatteras, a haven for pirates. So I have wiled away many hours dreaming of pirates and their escapades. The story is well written. It not only moves along at a brisk pace, but peaks your interest over and over again. The combination of the dreams of a young lady and the adventure of the high seas has been captured quite well. The young lady finds more than she is prepared for when she plots her escape from her enterprising uncle. She is helped to board a ship, and unwittingly sets out for the adventure of her life. The allure of a romance with a dark and handsome knight( i.e. pirate), who doesn't ride up on a white horse, but on a sleek ship, nets her heart . . . or does it. I was truly impressed with the research that had gone into the writing of this book, as the history of era as well as the black guards of the day were impressive, yet was woven into the story in such a way, that you were caught up in the moment. Great read, hard to put down and can't wait for the next in the series.
Rating: Summary: MIDWEST BOOK REVIEW Review: I was glad when I was asked to review the first installation of a trilogy, R.B., The Widow Maker, by C.C. Colee. I read and reviewed The Enchantress and greatly enjoyed the novel. The Widow Maker gave added insight to the characters that I had become so involved with in trilogy two. Reading firsthand of the horrible life that Aubrey was living with her Uncle help me to understand her better. The thought of being with the men that her Uncle wanted her to marry actually made my skin crawl. No wonder she ran away and booked passage on the Gull to go to Africa. I would have run too! Unfortunately the ship was taken over by the notorious pirate Rene Black and Aubrey found herself thrust into the world of Rene and his pirates on his ship, The Widow Maker. Aubrey was marked as his woman and began to learn the meanings of the words, fear, courage, and love. I was glad to see that she had spunk , knowing what she would face in the story ahead. Learning more about Rene and Mala (the true love of his life) made my heart more tender towards them. I am a romantic and want the love that they once shared to bloom forever! Also, learning about Jean Luc Pierne and his love for Aubrey helped to put the feeling of Mr. Alcott from book two for Aubrey, in more of a perspective. Now I can't decide who I want her to love! Not fair! RB, The Widow Maker is an excellent pirate, romance adventurous book. Drawing you into the story and the lives of the characters and making you want to know what happens next. All of your emotions will tingle as you read this novel. Love, fear, hate, anger , and yes, even compassion, will bubble up inside of you, as you watch their lives unfold. The first book of this trilogy bleeds into the second, yet, in my opinion each can stand alone. This is a good mark for a trilogy and makes for an excellent read. If you have not sunk your teeth into these novels, I would highly recommend that you do. I look forward to the ending and only hope that it plays out the way I want it to. I love a happy ending!
Rating: Summary: A swashbuckling pirate story Review: If you like action and adventure, you will enjoy reading "RB The Widow Maker." In this novel you have Rene Black who is the handsome but tough captain of the pirate ship Widow Maker. Aubry Malone, a timid English woman, is kidnaped by Captain Black while she is sailing on a ship to run away from an arranged marriage. Jean Luc, Black's quartermaster, is smitten by the fair beauty. Jean Luc's fate is sealed when Black learns of his forbidden love for Aubry. Mix this with a crew with a pirate mentality and you have a page turner full of adventure. It leaves you wanting more. And there is more to come in the next book, RB The Enchantess.
Rating: Summary: This book REALLY worked for me! Review: RB: The Widow Maker was a joy to read! Having just returned from a vacation along the Grand Strand, I read this book while enjoying the sounds of the beach. Many times, I expected to see the pirate ship in the distance. You feel so much a part of this story that sometimes you forget you're the reader and not actually on the decks of the pirate ship! But oh how you'd love to toss a few of the characters overboard! I had to remind myself that RB: The Widow Maker was only the beginning! I can't wait to read more of this adventure! Great story, C.C. Colee!!
Rating: Summary: Looking forward to the next book! Review: This book was one that had characters that you could relate to. In my reading, I felt like I was living right along side of Aubrey and I was on the adventure with her. This is a book that I am definately recommending to my friends who read and I am looking forward to the second and third books in this trilogy. Amber D. Anderson

Rating: Summary: Pirates and romance on the high seas! Review: When Aubrey decides to run away from her uncle, she never figured on being captured by pirates... or falling in love with one. The book is written with flair and excitement, so that your imagination lets you become deeply involved with the story. This is the first of a trilogy, and well worth the read, and the wait for the following books.
