Rating: Summary: It's not what it seems to be... Review: Antonio Sanletti was faced with a proposition: either marry the boss's daughter and get promoted into becoming a CEO or get fired. Antonio hates being blackmailed, but he doesn't want to loose his job. He also doesn't want to be with the boss's daughter, Paige Fortune, who he thinks is really promiscuous. He decides to pursue her, marry her, get the CEO job then divorce her. But this is Paige we're talking about here, so things don't go as planned.Paige Fortune doesn't care that she has a reputation of being easy and the body to show for it. All she's looking for is someone to love her, unlike her father who has ignored her for most of her life. When Antonio starts to show how he cares about her, she scoffs at it because she remembers the incident that happened by the pool a long time ago... What I liked most about this was that Miranda Lee shows both Paige and Anonio's side of the story. That's what I liked most (among other things) because usually there's only one point of the story and you're wondering what's going on the other person's head and things like that. But in this one, you had a clear view on most of everyone. Even Evelyn, the evil housekeeper who's jealous of Paige and tries to make her life miserable. Although I liked how things were developed, I felt the ending was rushed. Miranda Lee could have ended it in a few more pages, but all in all I really enjoyed THE BLACKMAILED BRIDEGROOM. ^_^ ~ Izzy
Rating: Summary: Fun but formulaic romance Review: I have to disagree with the reviewer that gave this book one star. This is not the best book that Miranda Lee has written for Harlequin, but it meets all of the criteria. It is a fast read and entertaining. Paige is indeed a poor rich girl. Her father doesn't show her any love and she is tormented by an ugly(in appearance and spirit) housekeeper, who spies on everyone in the household. She has a teenage crush on her father's assistant and when she tells him about it, is so humiliated by both Antonio and the housekeeper, that she runs away and moves in with a surf bum. Her father keeps and eye on her through a private investigator and is further disappointed by what he observes over the years. Appearances can be deceiving. Now Paige arrives back home with a bruise on her face from a disappointed lover that she only moved in with that day. Her father decides that his assistant Antonio should marry Paige and he will make him CEO of the company. Antonio is wary of Paige's past but attracted to her none the less, so he agrees to seduce and marry her. Little does he know that he really doesn't know as much about Paige as he or her father thinks!!
Like I said previously, this is a light entertaining romance, not the saga of the century, but it is very enjoyable.
Rating: Summary: poor little rich girl ! Review: I'm sorry but I could not identify with or feel sorry for this poor little rich girl with the perfect body. If she had truly become independent and had gotten over her teenage obsession I could have respected her. But as it was she was really pathetic. Why would someone move in with a boyfriend without having sex with him first or even being physically attracted to him ? The "hero" was a jerk and a user and I figure I would give their marriage two years on the outside. Sad excuse for a book.
Rating: Summary: A good, quick read Review: Miranda Lee will not be winning any major literature prizes any tine soon, but for what this book is, it's great. This book moves along quickly - gets to the point without the plot or character development being too flimsy. I do keep a look out for Ms. Lee's books - so I guess you could say I am a fan of sorts. This book takes place in Australia (as have all of the other Lee books I have read in the past) and involves the lifestyles of the very wealthy. If you have enjoyed Ms. Lee's previous books, or you enjoy the short romance formula, you will certainly enjoy this book!
