Summary: Down and Out to Up and Funky
Review: This is a beautifully-written and often funny story of the life of a heroin addict. At times maudlin in sentimentality, Ms. MacEnulty obviously knows her subject well, having lived the story herself.

This is a super-hip confessional, destined for the big screen. I see Billy Bob Thornton playing at least one of the male characters, and a wacked-out Geena Davis playing the leading role.

Recommended for the insight into the addicted mind if for no other reason.
