Summary: A Fresh Perspective on WWII
Review: Phil Trapp's new novel The Red Ribboned Letters is a wonderful look at a powerful time in our nation's history. Using real "love letters" preserved since World War II, the author recreates the daily life of the young woman who wrote the letters. In doing so, Trapp's novel reflects the temper of the times from a woman's point of view -- a perspective typically missing in other fiction or nonfiction works from this era. The reader is caught up in the day-to-day existence of the women left behind to work, "keep the faith" in relationships, and struggle with understanding the enormity of a war of epic proportions. The author uses everyday detail to ground the reader in the WWII world of America. That same detail makes the twists of the plot more poignant and compelling. The novel is both emotionally moving and thought-provoking.

Summary: Barbara's review
Review: This book is both a beautiful love story and a lesson in history. To read the experiences - from one who was there - and to understand the human-side of war was heart-warming. Dr. Trapp writes this from the eyes and heart and soul of the young women during WWII. Thank you for writing this book. Everyone should read this book to better understand where our mothers and grandmothers lived.
