WANTON PLEASURE is a book full a intrigue and daring. Set in the pre-civil war Louisiana, the plantation way of life and the color lines are very much on display in this novel. It is interesting to read Christopher and Katie's story, but it is also interesting the role the Underground Railroad plays. If you are a fan of Smith, this is a must read. If you are a newcomer to Smith, read this book.

Review: for me, this wasn't one of her best. The story as outlined above is good and holds your interest. The characters are wonderful. There is depth and humor and sadness and love. It's just not a book I would read a 2nd time. Ms Smith has written too many outstanding books for me to be impressed by this one.
