Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Can't put it down
Review: I happened across this book several years ago and have picked it up at least 3-4 times a year to re-read it since then. The story is one of a stuffy scholar and her brother who accompany a half-breed and his soldiers to map a route to California. There are, of course, many trials & tribulations on their journey and several deaths. The story takes several unexpected twists, flows very well & is easy to read. I have a huge collection of "smutty indian" books, and this book is in my "top 5". It is one of the best books I've ever read!
