Summary: The plot turn lost me
Review: The marriage of Claire and Jake Winters was one of convenience. Jake's convenience, that is. You see, Jake was so hard on his personal assistants that they kept quitting. He needed someone who would stick around and get the job done, what better answer than a wife?

Claire agreed to this marriage in order for her mother a place to live and an allowance. But after two years of being Jake's personal slave, she wanted out. Jake is cheating on her, but still won't let her out of the deal unless one of them falls in love with someone else! Here's where I get totally lost: Claire is in love. She's in love with Jake.

I just couldn't believe that Claire would fall for Jake. It made no sense! The writing of the book was good, the characters were well developed, I just didn't like the plot turn of Claire loving Jake after all he'd done.

Summary: Marriage in Name Only
Review: Two years ago Claire married wealthy Jake Winters, a marriage in name only. Jake wanted a wife, because his personal assistants kept quitting on him. Marriage seemed the answer. Plus a wife could handle all his social engagements and be a show piece when he needed one for a fancy dinner. At first Claire had been against the proposal, but her mother was penniless and Jake offered to buy her a place to live, plus to settle a nice lifetime allowance on her.

However now Claire wants out of the arrangement. Her mother has come into an unexpected inheritance and she's seen Jake's name in the papers in a story about him and another woman. But Jake reminds her of their original deal. Absolutely no backing out, ever, unless one of the parties falls in love with someone else. Love is the only clause that can break this contract and that's Claire's problem, she's fallen in love with someone, but not someone else, it's Jake she loves.

This was a very well written romance even if the plot was kind of dumb. I read it in the bath, speed reading thought the second half. That's usually not the best sign that the book's a winner, speed reading though it like that. Three stars.
