Summary: a romance with lots of thrilling action
Review: Sword of MacLeod has it all. It is a love story with great tender love scenes. A sci-fi fantasy with lots of action packed thrilling scenes. Its a novel with good character developement and wonderful secondary characters that make the story a whole. The plot is exciting and unpredictable. I really enjoyed this book. I've read several other books by Karen Fox and will have to count her amoung my favorites.This is the story of a father, Beckett, from a backwards planet, must go after his head strong willful daughter, Ciorstan, who has gone insearch of the fabled Sword of MacLeod. She believes that she has figured out a old riddle that will take her to the sword and that the sword possesses magic which will help her planet through a terrible drought. Her planet's people don't believe in modern technology and only allow a few ships to land for trading purposes.She has runaway to find the sword to save her people. Beckett must leave the planet to find her. He hires the best tracker he can, Raven. Raven has a broken down ship that she can fix with Becketts fee so she agrees to help him find his daughter. Raven is widely travelled and knows the ins and the outs of star travel. She also has some deep fears and only Beckett can make those fears go away. Together they face angry merchants, pirates, alien monsters and dangerous terrain to get his daughter back. Along the way they find passion and love. I enjoyed this book because I didn't know what was going to happen next. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes an exciting tale.

Summary: Fast Paced, Strong Heroine, but the hero's a dud
Review: The book is fast paced and the author presents a fully-fleshed out future-world. The heroine is very strong and well drawn. But here's the strange part - the romance seemed intrusive. I got so caught up in the heroin and her world that I was really jarred when we had the require gushing about the sex-appeal of the hero and how she couldn't keep her hands off of him. The sceens between the hero & heroine felt intrusive and forced. I didn't buy the attraction at all. I never understood what she saw in him. Some of the strongest parts of the book were towards the end when the heroine throught about all of the logical reasons why the hero wasn't for her and I totally agreed. Normally I want them to get together, but in this book I thought there had to be someone better then this for her. I'm sure I won't spoil the ending for anyone when I add that of course they stay together, but the pop-psychological resolution rang false. This author shows great potential and hopefully next time she will spend more effort on devising a hero worthy of her heroine.

Summary: What a mess!! Not really capture your attention!!
Review: Well, I was a little disappointed with this book. Normally, I love Karen Fox's books...but not really this one. This book is in a futuristic romance genre telling about the adventure of two totally opposite people, Raven and Beckett. Raven was a beautiful, independent and the best tracker of the galaxy who was hired by Beckett Macleod, an old-fashioned man from an underdeveloped planet, to track his daughter who escaped to find a lengendary sword, the sword of Macleod. While you will enjoy Raven and adore her wit and independence greatly, you will be very annoyed by Beckett at the same time. The space adventure part is fun and Karen Fox was able to describe all the non-earthian creatures very well. However, as mentioned before, our hero came from an underdeveloped planet and when this medieval scottish lifestyle collided with spaceship theme, it's just a big mess!. The story started out very well but it lost all the excitement after the first half into the book. And when coming to the fighting scene between priveteers with laser guns and poeple with ordinary 14th century-swords, it didn't seem to make anysense why they won the battle...and I ended up skipping several pages just trying to get to the end. So if you don't really mind medieval scotland mixed with start-of-the-art spaceships, you're good to go with this book. But if you're just looking around for some good futuristic romance, try something else..
