When I was young the books didn't match those folks in my neighborhood. I was pleased to see that the romance in this book seemed like real people. Real love with real issues. I like the "Keeping It Real" approach that Ms. White used when writing this story. She put enough fantasy in it and romance to keep things moving and the reader in anticipation of the next issue to be resolved. Thanks Kim for writing a romance that I could identify with. At the end of the book I felt it was okay to have an imperfect love. The abusive history was well written into the story. For those who have that background or know those who do will see the struggle Talya was having was real. The psychology of the character was well written. Abuse effects the lives of everyone who is associated with the dysfunctional couple. Talya lived to make new chooses; not all victims survive. Meridian's near death was well written. Thanks for not letting him die. I had enough emotions being tapped into, I didn't need to mourn for him (smile).

This book offered so much more than just the typical romance storyline. Kim made it possible so that you really got to know Talya, Meridian and Jason. Her description of her characters really brought them to life. She makes you want to jump in the book and get involved. Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent Review: Kimberley White's Sweet Tomorrows is excellent. I really enjoyed this story. The writing is so clear and descriptive; it was like watching a movie. This novel has all the sweetness of love. I could hear Meridian's syrupy voice when he spoke to Talya. The chemistry between the two is hot and explosive with plenty of love scenes to get your juices flowing. On the flip side, the novel displays the bitterness of love. Ms. White has done an outstanding job in shedding light on abuse. I felt Talya's struggles and could almost feel the physical abuse that she endured. Talya's ex-boyfriend, Jason was a maniac. Nonetheless, as an abuser, his character is realistically portrayed. The strong message that Ms. White relays is that abuse of any kind should not be tolerated. A definite must read! I will long remember Sweet Tomorrows.

Review: Love has many different functions; caring, sharing, commitment, giving, receiving, and I could go on and on. But many people forget, and never meditate on the HEALING power of love. Kimberley White explores this "healing love" in Sweet Tomorrows; the story of Meridian and Tayla. Being in an abusive relationship for six years caused Tayla lots of pain, and I applaud White for not allowing Tayla to give the reader the impression that she could just bounce back from her ordeal. It took almost the entire novel for her to believe that she could go through life without that constant fear of commitment and "what's next?" But without the undying love Meridian displayed, and commitment to making her love him as well, I doubt she would have healed as quickly. Meridian is symbolic of what we all want from a man. Handsome, successful, caring, and committed. He never called another woman after meeting Tayla, and he would not stop pursuing her until she gave in. When the knowledge of her abusive past came to light, he was still there. The part I loved the most though was how White displayed how Meridian needed a little healing of his own and only someone like Tayla could fill it. Although the sex between Meridian and Tayla was good, there was an intensity that reminded her of times with ex-abusive-boyfriend Jason. It took her to show him how gentle and caring he could be with a woman's heart as well as her body. Sweet Tomorrows, as a whole, is a story of how love can heal both a man and a woman, and how we all can come from pain and incompleteness to lead happy, fulfilled lives. I enjoyed this book immensely. On a scale from 1-5, I give it a 4. GOD BLESS Tamara Ward

Kimberley White does an excellent job of intertwining drama, suspense and romance all in one novel. She is brave enough to address domestic abuse concerns but with her own special flare of love and excitement. Our club truly enjoyed Talya and Meridian's adventurous interludes. It's a great summer read!

Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Vascillating heroine hurts this read. Review: Talya Stevenson had moved on after an intensely abusive relationship. She had a new job as a financial manager and a new apartment. Her job at the bank provided her with learning experiences and brought her in contact with Weston Realty. Enter Meridian Weston, millionaire real estate magnate who is intrigued by the reserved, attractive woman who is all business. She manages his company's accounts but rebuffs any advances he makes toward a personal relationship. Eventually though she is enticed by Meridian's kindness and patience. It doesn't take long for him to realize that Talya must be handled delicately when she reveals the details of her past. Matters are complicated when Jason, her ex-boyfriend, tracks her down and starts making threats and causing havoc. This novel had well-developed characters and compelling secondary characters and a story of this nature that explores abusive relationships is timely. This reviewer had a hard time, however, warming to the female protagonist because she seemed to be too much of a victim--it seemed as a result at times by her own hand., vacillating between being the strong, independent woman to being a whiner. She was not deserving of Meridian who just wanted a fifty-fifty love as Teddy Pendergrast would say, not a sixty-forty relationship that was subject to her tenuous stability.
